Secrets of Blogging Tag ♥

I saw this tag on Love from Be and since I love me a good tag, I thought I'd give it a go!

1. When did you start blogging and why?

I started blogging at the end of last June. I think I was going through a rough period in my life and I honestly thought that reading other people's blogs and what they were going through got myself through it. I'd always loved things like that (I was such a pro at html codes back in my Myspace days!) and since I was a complete girly girl with LOADSS of products to review, I decided on starting my own beauty blog.

2. How many people "in real life" know about your blog?

Only 2. Both of them found out without me knowing! Sneaky ;) haha
I wouldn't say I'm embarrassed about my blog, but it's a ME thing and I'm not quite ready to start talking about it.

3. What are your favourite posts to read?

Since moving out, I'm really into Home Decor and DIY. I've never made anything decent in my life but all of a sudden I'm desperate to start!

4. List a blog you have discovered recently

Chloe's Way
Molly Louise Blogs

5. Which post are you most proud of?

Wow! Too many but I did enjoy Jade's Big Mac in a Bowl recipe, even so that I made it myself!

6. Any advice for future bloggers?
  • Pick an area you're interested in. Make blogging something you enjoy.
  • Post regularly. Followers will get bored if you don't have new material.
  • Buy a notepad/diary so you can write down ideas for posts. I'm always out and about and think of something good but then always forget it when I get home.
  • Get sociable! It's always good to make new friends through blogging.

I now tag everyone reading this!

Schwarzkopf Got2b Oil-licious with Argan Oil Review ♥

Since I'm starting my positive thinking and trying to look after myself that little bit more, I thought I would continue that outlook onto my hair as well. I've already started myself on hair vitamins and the Tresemmé 7 Day Heat Treatment (post coming soon!) so my hair was already starting to look better but there was however some days when I would wake up in the mornings and my hair would be so dry and lifeless. Urgh! Originally I was planning on picking up some serum as it's helped me out a lot in the past but on one of my recent visits to Superdrug, I saw the Got2b Oil-licious Argan Oil Styling Oil and I was intrigued!

I've used the Got2b range before and although I liked them, I wouldn't exactly start shouting from the rooftops about them but since this product contained my beloved Argan Oil, I put my past experiences aside and brought it anyway. Lucky for me, it was also on offer for £2.66 instead of the usual £3.99 so even if it didn't work, I wouldn't have wasted much money!

On the packaging, it says you can apply this product on wet or dry hair but since I already have a good leave-in conditioner for when my hair is wet, I thought I would give it try the day after washing when my hair has normally started to dry out.

argan oil

As you can see from the pictures, I loved it that much I've already used nearly half of the bottle before I even managed to blog about it!

 Ignore my ugly work shirt!

As you can see my hair is very frizzy and dry looking in the first picture but after applying about 2 pumps of the the oil, my hair looked a lot smoother and silkier. It was very soft to touch and it didn't leave my hair with that horrible greasy feeling. The formula was really lightweight and lasted throughout the day and I honestly couldn't have asked for more from a product! The pictures speak for themselves!

I definitely would buy this again as it's made such a massive difference to my hair and it's not exactly going to break the bank at £3.99! Got2b also a conditioning mist that sounds very similar to this oil so I may be tempted to give this a go in the future as well!

You can pick yourself one up from Boots or Superdrug for around £4 (Boots slightly more expensive) for a 50ml bottle!

Tuesday 26th August: Making a change and being positive! ♥

Over the past few months I've really let my eating bad get out of hand and I finally decided to stop feeling sorry for myself and actually do something about it! I would normally eat out quite regularly but when you add up exactly what you've ate and estimate the calories, it really does make you think!

I have now decided to start healthy eating again and to hopefully make sure I don't fail I've thought of some positive ways to show my weight loss and to hopefully motivate me not to stop!

The first thing I thought of was the Weight Loss Jar idea. I'd seen this around on other people's blogs and I really liked the idea! It's really simple to do; all you need are two jars and something to symbolise pounds e.g. pebbles, marbles or shells. I've seen that a lot of people decorate theirs really well and they get really creative. I found this picture of Pinterest (good old Pinterest!) and I loved it that much that I brought similar jars and copied the design! My little glass stones were from The Range and only cost me £1!

I set mine up in my kitchen so I can see it every time I go in!

I went shopping today and picked myself up a nice new set of bathroom scales from Argos for £9.99! I had a set at my parents home which actually remembered your weight and the next time, it told you the difference which was actually quite helpful but since I couldn't find any that offered the same feature, I settled for this set.

healthy foods

Next on my list was food shopping! I tried to buy all healthy food but I didn't want it to be a complete shock to the system and opted for buying other things I enjoyed but just the "lighter" option.

Also, have you tried the new Muller whipped Greek Style Bliss Corners? AMAZING!!

Ooh cute little pegs :)

Lastly, I also printed off a weight loss journal where everyday I can fill out what I've ate, what activities I've done and even how I'm feeling throughout the day! Many people might find this boring but I'm really looking forward to doing this so I can look back and see where I'm going wrong!
You can print yourself one off here :)

What helps you when you're on a diet/healthy eating? What keeps you motivated?
Tips would be grateful! :)

Friday 22nd August: Being appreciated is good ♥

It's always nice to feel appreciated, even if it is just someone simply saying Thank You. You have no idea how just the slightest bit of appreciation can make someone's day. My manager at work did just this on Friday by buying everybody an gorgeous indoor plant and buying a load of cakes and lovely other treats!

This isn't a lifechanging post, but it meant a lot to me and as I said above, it really did make my day!

My little plant back home at the flat!

Glossybox August 2014 - Happy 3rd Birthday! ♥

First day back to work after a week off and I catch a cold. Great!
The one thing that did cheer me though was my gorgeous GlossyBox being posted through my letter box! It doesn't feel like last week that my July box came. Doesn't time fly!

Glossybox celebrated it's 3rd global anniversary this month - Happy 3rd Birthday Glossybox! And because of this, we all got a very special celebratory box!
First thing I noticed different was the box itself. Although it kept it's girly pastel pink shade, instead of the shiny effect, the box was matte with sharper edges which actually made the box a lot easier to open. I hate to say it, but I actually prefer this box!

The next thing I was surprised about was that there was an extra little gift inside. Instead of the usual 5, we got a bonus 6th product! Yay!

Now to have a look at all this month's goodies!

philip kingsley

Philip Kingsley Hair Elasticizer - 250 ml tube = £38

Although I've heard of Philip Kingsley, I have to admit I've never tried any of his products before. Saying that though, I'm really intrigued by this "Elasticizer" product. It claims to add elasticity, manageability, bounce AND shine! You apply the product before you shower and leave it on for 20 minutes and then you should notice a difference when you're blow drying and styling after. I'm not sure how well this would work but I'm very excited to give it a go!

figs and rouge

Figs & Rouge Hand Cream - 80ml tube = £6.95
Another brand I've never heard of but the gorgeous packaging made it the first thing that I picked up and tried! I was a little surprised at how moisturising it was for how thin the cream is. The smell was divine and I really think I've fallen in love with this. I'd definitely think about buying a full size tube when I've finished this one!

Kryolan for GlossyBox Highlighter in Cashmere - 4.5g pot = £12.95
This is probably my favourite purely because of the adorable little GlossyBox logo on the lid. This is a special edition highlighter from Kryolan to mark GlossyBox's anniversary. It appears to be shiny and glossy rather than shimmery in a very natural, wearable every day shade, so I can see myself using this a lot.
essence mascara

Essence Crazy Volume Mascara - 12ml tube = £2.79
I keep hearing very good things about the Essence brand and I have to admit although there's a few things I've had my eye on to buy, I still haven't made the leap to order them! Luckily for me, GlossyBox read my mind and sent me the Crazy Volume Mascara to try and even though I've only tried it the once, I'm in love! To say it's a mascara for under £3, it works really well! It gave my lashes great volume and although it did clump my lashes slightly, it didn't smudge throughout the day so for me, it's a winner!

Yves Rocher

Yves Rocher Nail Polish - 3ml bottle = £3.60
How adorable is this mini nail polish? It's so small!
It claims that it's a mini polish but with maxi colour! It looks slightly pigmented in the bottle and only one layer is needed for complete coverage. This small bottle would be perfect for holidays as not much space would be needed to pack this beauty away and the formula is that good that not many touch-ups would be needed. I definitely need to check out their different shades as these sound like a perfect nail polish!

Lalique Perfume - 50ml bottle = £67
Now I wasn't keen on the last perfume sample they sent me (here) so I was a little hesitant about this one. I also couldn't smell this very well due to my lovely blocked nose but from what I could smell, I was impressed. It is described as a soft, sensual fragrance with high notes of Rosebuds laced with bergamot, white floral heart notes and a musk base note. It is also supposed to capture the essence of "love".

I'm really pleased with this box as there's quite a few products in there that I'm really eager to try out! Once again, I'm already excited to get my next box!

National Sealife Centre in Birmingham ♥

As I mentioned in my last post, me and my (now ex) boyfriend visited the National Sealife Centre in Birmingham for my birthday and I ended up taking a lot of photos so instead of them just sitting on my computer unseen, I thought I would make a post showing them.

Now I know a lot of the photos are blurry but it's so difficult to take pictures of fish when they keep swimming around! Can't they just stay still and pose a little?
