Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in True Ivory Review ♥

05 August 2014

Hello!

A few months ago I needed a new foundation so instead of buying the same one I'd been using before, I thought I'd try something different and the one that caught my eye the most was the Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation. I'd seen a few other blogger's reviews about it and most of them were positive so I thought I would pick a bottle up for myself. Now I'd previously tried the Rimmel Stay Matte foundation and I really loved it so I did have high hopes when it came to the Wake Me Up foundation.

Firstly I did have a few problems finding my perfect skin tone. When I brought Stay Matte, I had to go slightly darker than I normally would have gone for but when I applied it actually turned out to be a perfect match. Using that when I brought Wake Me Up, I once again went with the darker tone "True Ivory" and hoped for the best.

As Rimmel boast about how this foundation is supposed to brighten and illuminate your face, I was quite excited to actually see this put into practice. They used shimmer as a part of the foundation which did scare me a little (I wasn't into the Edward Cullen look) but honestly I didn't notice it as much as what I thought. It's only a very slight shimmer and you can only see it if you look closely or are in very bright light.

 What Rimmel say:
"Rimmel Wake Me Up Make Up Foundation Light, moisturising texture applies smoothly and leaves skin feeling soft and comfortable all day. Gives an instant flawless, natural-looking finish.Wake Up & Glow!"

This is me with the foundation and a little bit of powder

The foundation went on really easy, like really easy. It covered all of my blemishes and most of my bad acne areas. Even my dark circles under my eyes didn't look so scary after applying. I could tell that after a few hours though, it wasn't too fresh and my whole face was starting to look really shiny. As I do suffer with oily skin, this wasn't that unusual for me but I was still a little disappointed because I did really enjoy this foundation.

At the end, I really did prefer the Stay Matte foundation. For someone who suffers with oily skin, a mousse formula is definitely the way to go as the foundations normally stay matte a lot longer than liquid foundations. The Wake Me Up foundation is still a good choice to go with and I would definitely recommend giving a try for yourselves.

I brought mine from Superdrug for £5.99 but theres normally a 3 for 2 offer going on nearly every time I go in store.

  1. Ooh, a bit of shimmer? I like the sound of that! I really miss the Bourjois 10h sleep foundation - it was amazing and really made your skin look luminous. I am coming to the end of my current foundation so might have a look at this when I go into town next.

    1. Well I've not tried the Bourjois foundation but this Rimmel foundation is a nice cheaper alternative! I would definitely give it a go :) xo

  2. That shade is the perfect colour for you. It's a shame it wasn't very long lasting for you. I have oily skin too and I used to love wearing mousse foundations but they used to take me a really long time to put on. Now I use the Bourjois Happy Light foundation with a bit of powder and I really like it. :) x

    1. Thank you :) I did really enjoy the foundation, it was just not as long lasting as I'd hoped for oily skin :(
I do keep hearing good things about the Bourjois foundation range so I might have to try it out myself! xo
