Revenge Season 4: Who's Excited?! ♥

A bit of a different post today but I was really excited that one of my all time favourite TV dramas is back on!

I'm not really one for watching drama shows and will normally stick with comedies like How I Met Your Mother or The Big Bang Theory but I really do love Revenge. I started watching it around the same time as the second season had started and I thought I would watch the very first episode to see what it was like. I ended up watching the whole of season one in one day because I loved it that much! Ever since then I've been watching religiously.

To sum the story up quickly, it's based on the life of Amanda Clarke. While she was a little girl, her father was framed for downing a flight in a terrorist act and sent to prison where he was murdered but a now grown up Amanda wants revenge on the people who wronged her father. The past three seasons have focused on her plotting her revenge and basically kicking some ass!

Now last season ended with such a cliffhanger (as most shows do but it was really good!) and I've been dying all summer to see what happens next and to hopefully get more answers!

I'd definitely recommend you guys watching this if you need something in between another series or just fancy something a bit different.

Revenge Men
Also, why wouldn't you want to see these sexy men every week? :)

Do you already watch Revenge?
Are you excited for the next season?

Green is the new Pink: Barry M Genie Lipstick Review! ♥

I am the typical sucker for gimmicky type of products and over the years, I have spent so much money on new "hype" products that I vowed myself to hold back and not rush in to spending money but after seeing Barry M post this picture on their Instagram, I knew this was definitely a product I had to try out!

I remember in my younger teenager days, I had a product very similar from Avon but just in the form of a pencil. It looked a normal average green lip pencil (if a green pencil is normal or average) but when it was applied to the lips, it turns into a baby pink shade! Ooh Magic! I loved wearing it so much that when it finally ran out I was so gutted when I found out Avon had discontinued it! Enter Barry M...

What Barry M says:

Genie lip paint is green…  but magically turns your pout an ultra-long lasting personal shade of pink. It does this by adapting to the Alkaline in your lips. In other words, every person is different and every look is unique! Genie lasts for eight hours too so you can achieve an all-day custom kiss that’s all your own” (Genie is an improved formulation of Barry M’s popular ‘Touch of Magic’ lip paint.)

My result:

As said above, the formula reacts to the Alkaline levels in your lips so theoretically every women should get a different colour when applied. I've checked out a few other blogger's reviews on the lipstick and the general result seems to be an intense magenta tone pink. Obviously it does react differently to different people and some have been given a very pale pink but when I used it, I got the complete opposite!
Does that mean I have more Alkaline in my lips? And should I be worried?

Along with the amazing colour change, Barry M also promotes that the product is water proof and long-lasting, and I can say that to some extent this is true. At the end of the promised eight hours, the lipstick has faded but has dulled to a subtle pink tint which I actually ending up preferring more so to the start colour. When it came to taking it off at the end of the day though it still put up a fight. Even when I woke up the next morning, you could still see a faint pink on my lips.

All in all, it's a great little lipstick. I loved the colour, it lasted forever and it was always a nice little bonus to get an uber confused look off people when you pull out a green lipstick!

You can pick yourself one up from Superdrug, Boots for £4.49 or you can check them out on their website :)

Have you tried it yet?
If so, what did you think?

September Payday Superdrug & Boots Haul! ♥

As some of you would agree, when payday comes around most us give a big sigh of relief! I get paid monthly so I normally have pretty much nothing left in my bank account by the end of the month.

payday v rest of the month
 This is me.

This does however make me splurge a little in the first few days of being month and this time I actually had a reason to, I'd ran out of a lot of my everyday makeup! So of course, as soon as payday did come around, I went straight up my local shopping centre and splurged!

Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation in True Ivory - £5.99 - I've brought this several times before and absolutely love it (review here). I got in the darker shade the first time which I was able to wear more in the summer but for the winter months I decided to go back with True Ivory which is slightly more lighter. The formula is amazing for people with oily skin and the lasting power works really well. I'd always recommend this foundation for anyone who is looking for a matte finish.

Batiste Nourish & Enrich Dry Shampoo - £1.99 - I love dry shampoo and Batiste is always the brand I go back to. I've probably tried every different scent they've brought out so I'm excited to see whether this lives up to the rest of the Batiste collection.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in - £3.99 - I have been waiting so long to try this out but every time I go shopping, it's out of stock! I did however manage to grab me a tube this week so I'm very excited to try this out for myself!

Seventeen Stay Time Pressed Powder in Medium- £4.49 - I really needed a new powder and since I was already buying the Pwoarr paint concealer, I thought I'd give the pressed powder a go too. I have tried the Stay Time foundation as well and really enjoyed it so I was quite happy to add more Seventeen products to my collection!

Seventeen Phwoarr Pain in Medium - £5.49 - I've seen a few other bloggers rave about this product so I was quite eager to try it for myself. I did however think that the price tag for such a tiny little pot was asking a bit too much. I am really expecting great things from this product!

Seventeen Black Lash Mascara - Free! - I actually got this as a free gift for buying the other Seventeen products. I didn't necessarily need another new mascara but hey! it was free!

Barry M Genie Lipstick - £4.49 - This is the one product I'm most excited to try. It's a green lipstick that adapts to your natural lip colour to create your own shade of pink! I remember Avon having a similar product and I was gutted when it ran out so I'm hoping I finally have a replacement for it!

That's everything I brought this week.
Is there anything you've got your eye on this month that you'd love to try?

I'm Back (For Good Now!)

I finally got around to buying myself a new computer! YAY!
This means that I'll be posting some new stuff over the next couple of days to make up for lost time!

I also managed to sort out my car problems as well so I'm a really happy girly right now :)

BYE BYE for a while :(

Life has happened again, but this week it's given a lovely week from hell! First it started with a horrible family emergency then yesterday it dropped a double bomb of a broken laptop and then a broken car!

Obviously without my laptop, blogging is going to have to take a back seat as money will need to be spend on buying a new car :( I will hopefully be back up and running by the end of next week if everything goes to plan (fingers crossed!)

Wilko's Kiss Range: Prime Of Your Life Primer Review ♥

Makeup primers an important part of any girl's makeup bag. They're there to help makeup last longer and some can even fill in lines and pores to give you a smoother canvas to apply your makeup to. Having said all that, it's been fairly recent that I discovered all of this and I've only ever brought two primers in my life which is quite pitiful!

After one of my recent blog reading sprees (stalking, let's just say it how it is) I came across a review for a new primer from the lovely Terri Lowe! She claimed it was the The Best Primer I've Ever Tried and of course that made me perk my ears up in excitement. As I'm a little new to the primer scene, I'm always up for trying new products.

I have to admit I can't even remember the last time I went into a Wilko's store, probably when I was dragged in by my mom on one of her boring shopping sprees looking at cleaning products and to be honest because of that, I'd always sort of ruled it out as a place to go for cosmetics. Not anymore though! When I went in they had plenty of products on offer and some where even cheaper than at Superdrug or Boots!

What Wilkinson's say:
"The Kiss smoothing light reflecting primer contains Silica spheres to diffuse light and help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. With conditioning and antioxidant Vitamin E, Apricot oil and Baobab oil to moisturise and soften skin."

Sorry for blurry pic :(
I didn't take a picture of the back for the ingredients but the formula is very much like the Maybelline Baby Skin Primer (review here) as it was very silicone based. It was slightly more creamy than the Baby Skin but it gave the same velvety, soft feel. If I was doing a Baby Skin V Kiss Primer, I would have to pick the Kiss Primer. It felt more lightweight and it didn't feel like I was adding an extra layer to my skin. It also didn't leave me feeling greasy as my skin absorbed it more instead of just sitting there like the Baby Skin.

Obviously the one main job the primer has is to help your makeup stay on for longer. Since I have oily skin, I find that most makeup doesn't last throughout the whole day but since I've been applying this primer beforehand, I've noticed my makeup has actually stayed in place. I still get the usual shiny T section after a few hours but on a whole, my make up still looks great!

I really enjoyed this primer and I do seriously think it's a very unknown product. I really hope people read this or Terri's post and get out there and go buy it!

There are a few other products in the Kiss range that caught my eye as well and I would now definitely go back and pick them up. You can order one yourself from their online store here and check out their other products.

Nutra Nail Gel Perfect Nail Colour in 5 Minutes in Sheer Natural Review! ♥

Going out and getting your nails done professionally at a salon is what most girls dream off but I honestly couldn't be bothered! I love going and having my hair done for a special treat every once in a while but spending money on getting your nails done is something I can completely do without. A big part of this is because when I'm at work, I spend a lot of my day typing on a keyboard and even the most "long lasting" nail varnish does not last without chipping.

On one of my recent shopping trips however I did find these Gel Perfect 5 minute nail colour for only £1.50 from B&M! I obviously didn't really expect them to compare to a professional manicure but for the money, I thought it wouldn't hurt to try them out.

They did have a few colours in stock but I thought you can't go wrong with a nude colour so I picked Sheer Natural and Champagne which was a darker nude (pictured here).

How to apply:
  • FIRST HAND 1st Coat - Apply Activator to first 3 nails until shiny wet, then apply thin coat of Gel-Colour immediately (this should appear streaky). Seal the free edge at each layer of Activator and Gel-Colour. Repeat these two steps on last two nails of Hand ONE.
  • FIRST HAND 2nd Coat - Back to your first 3 nails, apply second layer of Activator, then a second layer of Gel-Colour. Repeat second coat on last two nails of hand one.
  • FIRST HAND Final Coat - Apply a final coat of Activator to all 5 nails. Wait 30 seconds minimum or 5 minutes until rock solid. NB: CLEAN BRUSHES: After each layer of colour on 5 nails, wipe Gel-Colour brush clean on the paper towel and place into Brush Cleaner to prevent build up. Take brush from Brush Cleaner and place into Gel-Colour for application on next hand.
  • SECOND HAND – Repeat ALL steps on final hand

This is was the next morning. You can see that it's already started to crack a little around the tips!

This was the next day :(

As you can see from the photos, I didn't have a good experience with this kit. I found myself being really overwhelmed by the length of the instructions which meant the nails had dried a little before being able to apply the next coat. I'd say next time I'd need to read them thoroughly and I would advise anyone thinking of buying this for themselves, that they watch the instruction video to get a good understanding of how you need to apply properly.  My hat really does go off to trained beauticians out there!

The effect is very much like a professional manicure with a lovely thick layer which strengthens the nail. However, like I said above, within 12 hours the varnish had started to crack. It's easy to remove though, leaving no evidence of damage to the nail (unlike a professional one).

All in all this is a fair alternative to a professional manicure and would be for any special occasions. It doesn't last as long as my usual manicure but is a good solution for when you cant get to a salon or if like, you just prefer to do them yourself at home. I do know that there are also a lot of other high street brands that sell "home gel nails" and I would definitely think about look into them!
You can buy yourself from Boots or a B&M if you're lucky ;)

Glossybox September 2014 - Karen Millen Special ♥

It's that time of the month again and I have to say I was really looking forward to it! Over the past few weeks, Glossybox have posted little teasers on their instagram page and it looked so good that as soon as it was posted through my door, I ripped open the box to see what goodies where inside!

september glossybox

Sneaky little teaser for next months Pop Art Box!

In this months box:
modelco brows gel

ModelCo -  MORE BROWS Fibre Gel
£14.95 for 3.5ml
"This innovative brush-on fibre gel gives the appearance of fuller, thicker brows instantly."
I've never tried an eyebrow gel before as I've normally stuck to powders but I'm excited to see how well this works. Luckily it came in a light brown colour so hopefully it matches me!

l'oreal professional mythic oil

L'Oreal Professional Mythic Oil
£15.95 for 125ml
"This lightweight oil cares for and pampers all hair types. The formula leaves your hair looking shiny while feeling nourished and supple"
As soon as I saw this, I knew it would be my favourite. I did do a recent review on the Got2be hair oil and I absolutely fell in love with it so to get the chance to try another oil product got me very excited! I have to say I love when there's a hair product in the boxes, I think I prefer them more!

nails inc matte

Nails inc Westminster Bridge Matte Top Coat
£12 for 10ml
"This matte effect top coat gives you two very different looks for every one of your nail polishes. The perfect way to add a unique twist to your favourite shades"
I LOVE matte nails and I'm so glad this is in my box. I find that matte nails are perfect for Autumn/Winter and they give life to old nail polishes that you haven't used in a while!

origins anti aging power serum

  Origins Anti-aging Power Serum
£48 for 30ml
"In just 2 weeks, this age-fighting serum helps visibly reduce lines and wrinkles. With continued use it helps lift and firm skin to reveal a more youthful appearance"
I have to admit when it comes to anti-aging, I'm a little ignorant. I've gone through all of my teens and early 20's thinking "I'm young, I don't need anti-aging" but since it was my 24th birthday last month, this is something I really do need to start thinking about so I'm really excited that this is in my box!

SkinPep Enzyme and Acid Peel and Peeling Gel
Peeling Gel: £89.99 for 180ml
"This highly effective peeling gel uses Pineapple and Papaya extracts to create gently exfoliated, soft and bright skin"
Eye Cream: £44.99 for 15ml
"This powerful dark circle eraser uses anti-oxidant ingredients to boost collagen in the delicate under eye area"
Normally when it comes to face masks etc I normally buy the 4 for £3 from Superdrug's own range as I'm not really that fussy. These however look really professional and even come with the price tag to match. I'm excited to try them but I won't be buying them full size!

I'm really impressed with this months box as there's a bit of everything in there; hair, nails, makeup and skincare. What more could you really ask for?
Now I have to wait for Octobers box to come and after seeing their "Andy Warhol" teaser and the promise of a colourful box makes me want it now!

A bit of Arts & Crafts on a Sunday: Home DIYs! ♥

Since moving out into my own place, I'm constantly obsessed with buying things to make it my own personal spaced and lately I've moved onto for DIY tricks and hints that I can make myself with things I already have! The perfect place to find these ideas are Pinterest. Now I'm sure everyone is already a big fan but I'm late to this bandwagon but I can honestly say, I'm now well and truly on it!

Since there was so much that I liked, I thought I would do a small post on bits of DIY I liked and will hopefully try to do myself in the near future.

I love these coasters! They're so simple yet pretty and are SO cheap to make! You can buy a pack of 4 cork coasters from Ikea for £1 and you can decorate them however you want! This is a great idea and I really can't wait to try this out for myself.

I really love the idea of this pin love canvas! Since we moved in, we've had a really difficult time finding something to go on the walls. Everything from most home stores are either really girly or really weird and "out-there" (not fair on me!) so trying to find something we can agree on is hard! I did however really like this and it's somewhat in the middle so hopefully we'd both be able to enjoy this!
stick candle

Once again another simple yet pretty idea and I think this would look great in the upcoming Autumn/Winter months! You can buy a small glass similar from anywhere and the sticks can be picked up from any park you visit! Simple and cheap!
love string art

Lastly, is my favourite of them all. I know there are a few other "string art" pieces and I have to say I honestly love them all! It's just a great idea and you can do this with whatever word  you want or symbol like a heart. I'm already thinking of several words I can do for around my apartment!

You can check out my Pinterest site here and see what other things I've pinned!

All these pictures were from Pinterest. I do not own any of them, I just wanted to make a post of my favourite ideas :)

Tresemme Keratin Smooth: 7 Day Heat Activated Treatment Review ♥

As a woman, there's nothing better than having a good hair day. Waking up in the morning and having your hair actually going the way you want it to and not needing any straighteners or products is amazing. The best way I figured I'd try to get these good hair days was to treat my hair every once in a while with a nice hair mask or condition and for the most part, it's worked but there are still some days where my hair will just not agree with me and I end up shoving it up in a ponytail or a bun.

A few weeks ago I saw an advertisement on the tv for Tresemme's new hair product which advertises as giving you sleek and smooth hair which apparently lasts for 7 days or 4 washes. Now instantly I was intrigued because if a product could really last that long, that would mean all bad hair days would be gone forever and who really would say no to that?!

The first chance I got, I popped into my local Tesco store and luckily for me all Tresemme products were half price so instead of paying £6.99 for it, I only paid £3.99! woo!

This isn't really a great picture to show my hair after using it but let's just say that this is a great improvement to what I normally wake up with!

For the treatment to work at it's best you can prep your hair with the 7 day Keratin Smooth shampoo and conditioner but I opted to use my usual products as I think they work great for my hair. After getting out of the shower you can apply 8-10 pumps of the products and comb on to the mid-lengths and ends. Since my ends are blonde, I applied more of the product on the tips since that was the area that needed the most attention. Once all your product is applied, blow dry in your usual style.

Now this is where it gets all "sciencey". To actually make the product work, you need to straighten your hair which activates the Thermal Technology. I sectioned my hair into thin layers starting from the bottom and working my way up to the top. It says on the box that you should go over each section 3-5 times with your straighteners so to make sure that every strand is covered and then you're done!

The first time I tried it, I was in love! I was really impressed with how well it had worked and what a big difference it had made to my hair. It looked shinier and softer and was a lot more manageable but when it came to the next time I washed it, I could already see that it was fading A LOT! My hair was already starting to look more dry and straw-like and there was no way in this world would this product last 4 washes! Normally I wash my hair everyday, and I know this is bad etc etc but I suffer with greasy hair and if I try and leave it longer than two days, it's just disgusting. No matter how much dry shampoo I apply, it makes no difference! So in saying all that, I don't think this product would last me one week at all which is disappointing because it was such a great product on day one!

All in all, I did like this product and although for me it didn't live up to it's 7 day/4 washes hype, I still enjoyed it and I would definitely buy it again.

You can pick yourself one up from Boots, Superdrug and most other big retail shops.
