Make-up Revolution Vivid Blush Lacquer Heart Review

I'm a bit late to the Make-up Revolution party because it was only a few weeks ago that I purchased my first product from this brand. When I first heard about Revolution and their amazing cheap prices, I was a little offended that a new brand had come to rival my beloved MUA but of course in the end I had to give in and see just how good they was.

When going onto their website, you're instantly hit with all these gorgeously packaged products on offer but since I wasn't really too sure on what to buy and to be honest, the lack of funds in my bank account, I kept it simple with their Vivid Blush Lacquer in Heart shade.

I clearly need to update my desk calender! Just the usual 3 months out!

Ignore my beautiful work uniform. A bloggers gotta do what a bloggers gotta do to get a good picture!

All the excitement over the blusher seemed to be a bit short lived as when it arrived I put it away in my make-up drawer and I actually forgot about it until last week when I was scrounging around for my foundation. Sorry Revolution! Nevertheless as soon as I remembered I had it, I made a big effort to remind myself to test it out on the next day.

I've not had much experience with liquid blushers so the next morning I was a little stumped on how to apply it. Luckily I had a clean blusher brush on hand so I squirted a small amount onto the back of my hand and tentatively applied to my cheekbones. I found it to be a lot harder to blend it because as soon as it touched my skin it seemed to have set and didn't budge much when I swept my brush around my cheek.

After finally getting the blusher into a suitable way, I left for work! After a gruelling shift at work, day 1 of my 30 day shred (post here) and cooking that night's dinner, when it finally came time to take my make-up off I was surprised to see that my blusher had managed to withstand all of my day. Thumbs up Revolution for your staying power!
All in all, although I do love the colour of this blush, I just cannot get my head around a liquid blusher. It was a little awkward when applying and it didn't blend as well as I'd hoped. I guess a part of me will always prefer the simplicity of powder blushers.

You can check the blusher out here on their website or in-store at Superdrug.

Getting Fit: Starting The 30 Day Shred!

For me, exercising at home is not fun. Not only do I feel stupid doing squats and jumping jacks in my living room for all my neighbours to see but it also feels like such a waste of my day. I'd rather be cleaning or doing the laundry, surely that's exercise enough? I loved going to the gym with my friend last year and I actually found that a lot more enjoyable and motivating then doing anything at home by myself.

That was until I rediscovered my 30 Day Shred DVD under the pile of dust it had gathered since it's last use. I heard about it about 4 years back on a few beauty bloggers pages saying how good it was and how well they'd done after doing the programme and of course I was intrigued so straight on Amazon I went and treated myself to it. At first I loved it but as what happens with most diets, I got bored and soon it got played less and less but now I've decided to get it back out of it's hiding place and get my ass into gear and start "shredding"!

30 day shred

Basically the idea of the 30 Day Shred is you exercise for 20 minutes every day for 30 days and you could possibly lose up to 20 pounds. Easy right? All you have to do is put 30 day shred into the Google search and hundreds of success stories/pictures are there to see which actually motivates you to think that this could be the same for you.

The levels are broken down into 3 circuits of 3 minutes of strength training, 2 minutes of cardio, and 1 minute of abs.  It really does make the 20 minute routine fly by! As a beginner, you start on level 1 and after 10 days you should feel comfortable enough to go to the next level and so on until you complete a whole 30 days! Obviously 30 days straight of exercise sounds exhausting so I will be allowing myself days off to rest and repair my aching body and of course a sneaky visit to Chiquitos or two!

Now like I said above I've actually done this and although I never got to level 2 before I quit (Guilty!) I did lose a lot of weight and I felt so much better in myself. I know there's been a lot of controversy over how well this actually works but I honestly think that the success stories speak for themselves. Plus no-one is forcing people to do this, if you don't agree with this workout, there are plenty other work out DVDs to try!

I downloaded this handy chart so I can mark off the days that I complete and hopefully work out to be a way to motivate me to carry on when I can see how well I'm doing. You can print one off for yourself here if you fancy giving it a go yourself! Sorry to the person who made it but I couldn't find the original page!

Because I'm obviously going to blog about this little adventure so I'm going to aim for doing weekly progress posts to see how I'm doing so keep an eye out for that!

Is anyone else trying/already tried the 30 day shred?

Bargain Heaven: My Aliexpress Goodies!

As I've said many times before, I don't like spending money on designer brands just because I simply don't see the point. I've always believed you can find just as good products in high street stores and people who think otherwise just like to throw money away. But of course there are times that I see people with all these lovely new designer things and I have to admit I do get a little jealous!

A few months ago, probably last summer to be honest, I saw a post on Victoria's Vintage about some faux designer goodies she'd brought from an online China website. Now I don't know about you but I'm not new to this buying from China because I've done it so many times before on eBay and Aliexpress is just a bigger version of little eBay stores.

Since last Summer, I've been ordering a few things here and there and of course I thought I would show you all!

michael kors

Michael Kors Bag | $22.98
I LOVE this bag! When I ordered this bag I didn't expect much and I actually regretted it as soon as the order went through but as soon as it came I was relieved. Although you can tell it's not a real MK bag, I still love it and having been able to "test" out the fake bag, it's made me consider actually buying the real thing.

michael kors

Michael Kors Bag |
This Michael Kors bag I'm not so keen on. First of all I ordered an all over black bag like the one above but when it arrived it was this very bright blue and black bag. I had to open a dispute to get it changed and finally after 2 months of waiting, they finally closed the case in my favour and I got to keep the bag. I'm still not that sure on it and I'm tempted to sell but I'm keeping it for the time being and hoping I grow to love it!

Cat Earring & Necklace Set | $7.99
The crazy cat lady came out of me when I saw this and I knew I had to have it. It does look a little cheap and gaudy when you wear them but I love them so much I really don't care.

urban decay

I wasn't going to bother buying make-up or beauty products because although I love a good bargain Michael Kors back, I don't fancy putting fake products on my face because I don't know what's inside them. Regardless though I did decide to pick up this mini travel size primer. I didn't really know what to expect but it wasn't as bad as I thought. I haven't really used it much so I haven't had a good chance to test it out yet.

Another crazy cat lady item and really how could I resist? I'm never really sure of the sizes when ordering online and especially from China but I went with an XL and it fitted really nicely.

marc jacobs

This was a product I'd seen over on Victoria's post and I have to admit although she said it got really filthy after a few wears, I still had to have this watch! I love Marc Jacobs watches but I don't wear watches enough to make me feel okay with cashing out on over a hundred pound. I do love this watch and I'd happily buy another when this one gets a bit tatty.
rose gold necklace set
I brought this as a little stocking filler for my mom (hence the stock picture) and I have to admit this picture does not do it justice and I'm quite tempted to order myself one. I know it probably won't keep it's rose gold tone for longer than a few wears but it is a pretty adorable little set.

Although some of Aliexpresses products are hit and miss, I'd still recommend taking a look as you can definitely find some nice and interesting products for a bargain price tag!

Tag Tuesday: Fabulous Four!

Everyone loves reading a good tag post. Either because you’re actually interested in getting to know the person behind the blog or because you just want to be nosey. I’ll admit I enjoy doing it myself! While I was on my little stalking mission I came across this tag which didn't really seem to have a name so since it asked for four answers, I named it The Fabulous Four Tag. No copyright intended!

 bad joke?

Four Names People Call Me Other Than My Real Name:
1. Nat. Boring but it does the job
2. Natty. Normally used by my little cousins which I love!
3. Queen. My cute little nickname
4. Petal/Poppet. My nicknames of my dad and the reason behind my blog name

Four Jobs I've Ever Had:
1. Tele-Sales Consultant and then  Team Leader. I got a promotion from the sales consultant
2. Receptionist and then Data Entry Clerk. I got another promotion!
(3 and 4 don’t count because I’ve only ever had two jobs!)

Four Movies I've Watched More Than Once:
1. Lord of the Rings. I don’t care how much of a nerd I sound. I love LOTR!
2. Any Disney film. Obviously?
3. Twilight. My secret little obsession
4. The Hunger Games. All 3 of them so far!

Four Books I'd Recommend:
1. The Hunger Games series. Who hasn’t read them?
2. How I Live Now.  I read this back when I was a teenager and I still love reading it now. The film came out last year and I found it just as good which normally isn't the case!
3. Fifty Shades of Grey. Why not?
4. Any book wrote by Karl Pilkington. He’s hilarious!

Four Places I've Lived:
1. I’ve always lived in the same area for all my life. How sad L

Four Places I've Visited:
1. Greece
2. Disney Land
3. Paris
4. Spain

Four Places I'd Rather Be Right Now:
1. In bed. duh
2. New York City
3. Disney World
4. Florida

Four Things I Don't Eat:
1. Most sea food. Too slimy and smelly
2. Marmite. I am a definite hater of the stuff
3. Anything too spicy. Plain chicken at Nandos is too hot for me.
4. Weird parts of animals. For e.g. liver and heart. WHY!?

Four of My Favourite Foods:
1. Spaghetti Bolognese. I could eat this every day!
2. Cheese. Anything with cheese
3. Steak. YUM
4. The Santa Fe baked wrap from Chiquitos! LUSH

Four Things I'm Looking Forward To This Year:
1. Hopefully booking a holiday for this year!
2. The Summer, I need lots of heat to make up for all this horrible snow
3. My birthday. I'm 25 this year and for some reason this excites me cos I feel like I'm old enough to be classed as an adult but then I'm also half way to 50!
4. My blog's 2nd year anniversary! YAY

Four Things I'm Always Saying:
1. Fuck me. Normally under my breath and at people who've annoyed me
2. I'm tired. No matter how much sleep I get, I'm still tired
3. I'm cold. I feel like I can never get warm and constantly walking around the house with about 3 different layers of clothing on
4. Can you do the washing up? Every night I have to ask this

Feel free to take the tag for yourselves!

Netflix: My Favourite 5 Shows to Watch!

After seeing so many people rave about Netflix and with nothing good to watch on TV, I finally took the plunge and started my free month trial. At first all the different movies and films were over-whelming and it took me a while to decide on what to watch but after I got our bearings, I soon found a lot of shows that I was desperate to watch.

(picture from Tumblr)

1. American Horror Story

If you haven't heard of AHS by now, you've probably been hiding under a rock. It seems to be THE show that everyone keeps raving about and although I'd seen plenty of gifs ect on Tumblr, I've never been so bothered about. That was until about 10 minutes into the first episode when I fell in love with the show! I started watching the first season on a lazy Sunday morning and probably by the next Sunday, I'd finished all three seasons.

I think Murder House has got to be my favourite as I thought it was a great story although I did find Asylum a little more on the creepy side. As I am a UK resident though, I still have not seen the fourth season, Freak Show so I'm eagerly awaiting it to be put on Netflix!

2. Bob's Burgers

Another show that seems to be going mad on the Tumblr dashboards is Bob's Burgers and once again, another show that I fell instantly in love with. I love the one liners and jokes used in this show and I personally think this show is funnier than bigger shows like Family Guy and American Dad. Unfortunately there's only 3 seasons currently on Netflix and just like AHS, they didn't last very long!

I know that a lot of people love Tina in this show but my favourite character has got to be Louise as I think the things she says are just hilarious.

3. Peaky Blinders

I wasn't that keen to watch this purely because it's based in Birmingham (where I live) and to be honest I didn't want to hear the bad Birmingham accents. But after watching a few episodes I really got into it and actually found myself enjoying it and desperate for the next episodes. There's two seasons currently on Netflix but you can also watch on BBC catch up.

4. Dexter

An oldie but a goodie and once again a show that I never really been that interested into until I started watching it. I know a lot of people from school/college who used to watch this when it first started and I never liked the sound of a TV show about a guy who works for the police but is also a mass murder but since then, my tastes seemed to have changed!

We've just finished watching season four this week and let's just say that I am definitely NOT happy with how it ends! I hope the next season makes up for it.

5. Revenge

As I've said before in a previous post, I LOVE Revenge. When it first came out over on E4 I could just not get enough of the show and now I have Netflix, I can watch it all over again from season one!

Clearly before Netflix I was a freak and was missing out on a lot of good shows.
Is there any other show you're loving on Netflix right now?

Things I didn't expect when moving out! ♥

Moving out of my parents house was probably the biggest decision I've made in my 20's (so far, I'm only 24!). A lot of my friends moved out when they were quite young and I'd always felt a little left behind but in April last year,  I finally made the decision and rented my first place!

Now at first the idea of my own little place was of course amazing and it seemed like everyday I found myself browsing the Internet for furniture and any little novelty thing I could buy to make it feel more like home. But after a few weeks of being in the flat, I noticed that I was starting to get very house proud but in a very boring and miserable way. Sort of like I was a younger version of Mrs Bucket. Of course I thought it would be funny to write a list of things I've noticed and hopefully for those who have moved out, will agree.

1. You get excited over new fabric conditioners for your clothes and choosing one is a good five minute job in the middle of the Asda aisle. Lenor Infusions in Gold Orchid is definitely my favourite at the moment.

2. Cleaning your small childhood bedroom does not prepare you for cleaning a three bedroom house. I have no idea how my house gets so dusty and so quick!

3. I'm amazing at Ikea flat pack furniture. Give me a screwdriver and half an hour and I'll knock you up a wardrobe no problem.

4. Like fabric conditioners, candle scents are also important and every surface in my living room needs to covered with at least 2 candles.

5. I enjoy going furniture shopping. I have to go at least once a week, just to look around the showrooms and to pick up ideas. Never to actually buy anything but to just dream that my house could look that nice.

6. I also enjoy going food shopping. Before it was just getting what I need but now I take my time to get all my ingredients because I now consider myself the next Jamie Oliver.

7. I also now consider myself a qualified Interior Designer and I know exactly where the coffee table in the Living Room looks best.

8. Instead of the hiding in the room sulking like a teenager because your dreaded aunt has popped round, you now want people to come round and visit.

9. I am terrible at managing my money. Paying rent is boring! I'd rather spend it on new clothes or maybe that new bed spread I've been eyeing up from Next!

9. Pinterest and Tumblr are now my new best friends when it comes to decorating/designing. If they can do it, so can I!

10. Neighbourhood watch is a big concern for me. Any little noise and I'm up the curtains checking it out!

11. I hate washing up. But doesn't everyone though?

12. If I had a pound for every pair of odd socks we have, I'd be able to buy a bigger house.

13. I don't like gardening. It's Winter and the lawn has been covered in snow for the past few days but I already know I'm not going to like it.

14. I love coming back from work and locking myself into my blogging room for a few hours like a little hermit. I really have learnt to appreciate my own time.

15. Finding something to watch that we both will like is a lot harder than it sounds. The fight for the remote though is worse.

Is there anything else you've noticed in your own home?

Seventeen Phwoarr Concealer Review!

A few months ago I mentioned that I had a mini shopping spree in Boots and treated myself to the highly talked about Seventeen Phwoarr Paint concealer. I'd heard a lot of other beauty bloggers rave about this so of course I knew it had to be good. I'd been into Boots a few times since reading the reviews and it was always out of stock of my shade but finally one day it was there!

When it came to concealers I have to admit that I always felt that because I used a lot of it everyday just to cover bad spot days and bags under my eyes that the cheaper they were the better, because although I needed it, I didn't want to waste my "good stuff" on just going work. I would normally buy MUA's £1 concealer lipstick stick and think it was actually doing a good job when really it wasn't. Since starting this blog though it's made me become a little more adventurous when it comes to my make-up and I'll now be using my "night out" make-up just for doing the weekly shop!

 seventeen concealer
Ignore the bad lighting
As you can see from the picture above, I had serious bags under my eyes that day and attention was definitely needed. That's what two weeks of the common cold and no sleep will do to you! Back to the concealer though!

When it comes to picking a shade, I never know which to get. Some times I'm a lighter than what I think in one brand and then in others I'm darker than what I think and obviously because this is a "never brought before in my life" product I was once again unsure. I ended up going with the Medium shade and I have to say it matches my skin completely. It covers up any annoying spot or bags under my eyes like they were never there to start with and isn't that just what a good concealer does?

The only bad thing I could say about this concealer is that sometimes the formula itself can feel a little heavy when you layer it up a bit but personally it's something I can allow because of how good the product works.

For me the £5.49 price tag was a little too much a few weeks ago but after seeing how much better using a more expensive concealer can be, I definitely wouldn't mind cashing out that much every couple of weeks.

You can buy one for yourself in store or online at Boots.

Decisions Decisions: New Hair for 2015?

Most people bring in the new year with the outlook that "New Year, New Me" and that normally includes the typical going on a diet, getting back into the gym, leaving that crappy minimum wage job you hate. Trust me, I've made them all. But one I've never really believed in was "New Year, New Hair". Why should a new year be a reason to change your hair? If you wanted to cut it before, just do it!

Having said that though, the past few weeks I've seriously contemplated cutting all of my hair off and having something different to my usual long wavy locks. Obviously I'm not going to go mental and go really short as that would never suit me and I'd probably end up hating myself and buy a wig. But I am definitely thinking of going that little bit shorter and maybe even have "lob" as so many people keep raving about how amazing they are.

When it comes to styling my hair in the morning, I have to admit I'm pretty lazy. I hate straightening my hair as it always takes too long so most days it gets thrown up in a bun and hope tomorrow is a better day. So obviously I would like a hairstyle that I can just get up with and have no problem getting it to do what I say.

Here's a few examples of what I was thinking:

All pictures are from Google :)

First Box Of The Year: Glossybox January 2015

This time last month I'd sort of made up my mind that I was going to cancel my Glossybox this year as the past 3-4 boxes have just not impressed me at all. There are still products from September/Octobers boxes that I haven't even opened and although it's only about £13 a month to keep the subscription going, I'd rather save the money and spend it on buying things I actually wanted to try.

That was until January's box came through my door!

Honestly? I love it. Every product I've been sent got me excited and was something I'd pick up for myself if I was out shopping but enough of the chatting and enjoy what I was sent!

glossy box

What's inside?

eye pencil

Mememe Eye Line Pencil in Clay // £4
It's been such a long time since I actually wore an eye liner that wasn't the blackest of black and although I've heard good things about brown eye liners and how complimenting they can be for your eyes (especially for day time), I have to admit I'm a little dubious to make the swap. Having said that I'm so happy that Glossybox has sent me this and I'm definitely going to trial it out to see which colour I prefer more!

powder blush

Nicka K New York Powder Blush // €8.95 for 5g
Another product I've been dying to try is powder puff blushers. I know that Seventeen have their own powder puff blusher out in Boots and I've always been desperate to try it to see if it's any good but of course Glossybox seems to have read my mind again and sent me this one instead. As you can see from the picture they sent a very girly pink shade called Romantic and although it's not my usual colour, I'm hoping it doesn't come out too strong and I can still get away with wearing it with a lot of blending.

It also has a handy little mirror on the lid for on-the-go blush. How handy?

Jelly Pong Pong All Over Glow Highlighter // £10 for 15g
Firstly, I love the name of the brand. Pong Pong. hehe! Secondly, this highlighter looks amazing and if I hadn't already just a few weeks ago brought a new highlighter, I'd be even more excited! Oh well. The great thing about this is it's oil free so although it will be highlighting my face, it won't be highlighting it for the wrong reasons. No one likes a shiny face!

lip balm

Naked Lips Organic Lip Balm // €5
As I've mentioned before I use so much lip balm in the Winter months because I simply cannot stand dry cracked lips. I always carry a stick with me wherever I go and this one will be a nice addition to my collection. Not only is this lip balm 100% natural ingredients but it also has a gorgeous blueberry and pomegranate scent. Yummy!

Kueshi Natural & Pleasant Face Toner // €10.70
I know in the last few Glossy boxes I moaned about how many skin products there was and how I couldn't possibly use them all so I was slightly excited to see that they'd only sent me the one skin care product this time. And that it was bright pink. Pink always wins me over.

This box has definitely saved itself for me and I think I'll be keeping my subscription for at least another month. Thank you Glossybox!
