Getting Fit: Starting The 30 Day Shred!

Hello!

For me, exercising at home is not fun. Not only do I feel stupid doing squats and jumping jacks in my living room for all my neighbours to see but it also feels like such a waste of my day. I'd rather be cleaning or doing the laundry, surely that's exercise enough? I loved going to the gym with my friend last year and I actually found that a lot more enjoyable and motivating then doing anything at home by myself.

That was until I rediscovered my 30 Day Shred DVD under the pile of dust it had gathered since it's last use. I heard about it about 4 years back on a few beauty bloggers pages saying how good it was and how well they'd done after doing the programme and of course I was intrigued so straight on Amazon I went and treated myself to it. At first I loved it but as what happens with most diets, I got bored and soon it got played less and less but now I've decided to get it back out of it's hiding place and get my ass into gear and start "shredding"!


30 day shred 

Basically the idea of the 30 Day Shred is you exercise for 20 minutes every day for 30 days and you could possibly lose up to 20 pounds. Easy right? All you have to do is put 30 day shred into the Google search and hundreds of success stories/pictures are there to see which actually motivates you to think that this could be the same for you.

 The levels are broken down into 3 circuits of 3 minutes of strength training, 2 minutes of cardio, and 1 minute of abs.  It really does make the 20 minute routine fly by! As a beginner, you start on level 1 and after 10 days you should feel comfortable enough to go to the next level and so on until you complete a whole 30 days! Obviously 30 days straight of exercise sounds exhausting so I will be allowing myself days off to rest and repair my aching body and of course a sneaky visit to Chiquitos or two!

Now like I said above I've actually done this and although I never got to level 2 before I quit (Guilty!) I did lose a lot of weight and I felt so much better in myself. I know there's been a lot of controversy over how well this actually works but I honestly think that the success stories speak for themselves. Plus no-one is forcing people to do this, if you don't agree with this workout, there are plenty other work out DVDs to try!

I downloaded this handy chart so I can mark off the days that I complete and hopefully work out to be a way to motivate me to carry on when I can see how well I'm doing. You can print one off for yourself here if you fancy giving it a go yourself! Sorry to the person who made it but I couldn't find the original page!

Because I'm obviously going to blog about this little adventure so I'm going to aim for doing weekly progress posts to see how I'm doing so keep an eye out for that!
