Make-up Revolution Vivid Blush Lacquer Heart Review

31 January 2015

Hello!

I'm a bit late to the Make-up Revolution party because it was only a few weeks ago that I purchased my first product from this brand. When I first heard about Revolution and their amazing cheap prices, I was a little offended that a new brand had come to rival my beloved MUA but of course in the end I had to give in and see just how good they was.

When going onto their website, you're instantly hit with all these gorgeously packaged products on offer but since I wasn't really too sure on what to buy and to be honest, the lack of funds in my bank account, I kept it simple with their Vivid Blush Lacquer in Heart shade.

Ignore my beautiful work uniform. A bloggers gotta do what a bloggers gotta do to get a good picture!

All the excitement over the blusher seemed to be a bit short lived as when it arrived I put it away in my make-up drawer and I actually forgot about it until last week when I was scrounging around for my foundation. Sorry Revolution! Nevertheless as soon as I remembered I had it, I made a big effort to remind myself to test it out on the next day.

I've not had much experience with liquid blushers so the next morning I was a little stumped on how to apply it. Luckily I had a clean blusher brush on hand so I squirted a small amount onto the back of my hand and tentatively applied to my cheekbones. I found it to be a lot harder to blend it because as soon as it touched my skin it seemed to have set and didn't budge much when I swept my brush around my cheek.

After finally getting the blusher into a suitable way, I left for work! After a gruelling shift at work, day 1 of my 30 day shred (post here) and cooking that night's dinner, when it finally came time to take my make-up off I was surprised to see that my blusher had managed to withstand all of my day. Thumbs up Revolution for your staying power!
All in all, although I do love the colour of this blush, I just cannot get my head around a liquid blusher. It was a little awkward when applying and it didn't blend as well as I'd hoped. I guess a part of me will always prefer the simplicity of powder blushers.

You can check the blusher out here on their website or in-store at Superdrug.

  1. That's such a gorgeous looking colour.

I love liquid blushers. I find that they're amazing for both a striking look, or a subtle, natural look (they're AMAZING for a natural look). Not to mention the fact that (like you said) they last. A lot of them are waterproof too. (which is a great great combo with a good waterproof mascara.)

The best way to apply liquid blushers, however, are with your fingers. Start off by adding it to the back of your hands (just as you did), but instead of using the brush, use your fingers (one or two. Totally up to you), and apply it to the apple of your cheeks, blending outwards, applying more if you need. Hope that Helps.:)

  3. This looks great! But I'm not really adventurous when it comes to make so kudos to you for trying it. I would just overlook this in a shop but it looks really nice on your skin tone. Great post

  4. The only tip I have for these is to work quickly and use only a tiny bit of product at a time. Personally I think they apply easier with fingers than a blush. Put a dot or two on your cheekbones and rub it in.
