Benefit's New Miracle Mascara: Roller Lash Review!

Earlier this week I posted about buying the new Elle March 2015 magazine and that it contained a special mini size version of Benefit's new release: the Roller Lash. Apart from me hating the magazine (Sorry Elle!), I was super excited to give this mascara a go and since I was never really that impressed with their They're Real mascara, I was hoping I'd have better luck with the Roller Lash.

To be honest I wasn't even aware that Benefit were releasing a new mascara until I saw it on nearly every other blogger writing their first impression and review posts. So after feeling slightly left out I originally started googling and from that little research, the Roller Lash mascara looked pretty good. Instead of buying a full size bottle and not liking it (which is exactly what happened with They're Real) I thought I would buy the Elle magazine just to get the sample. I don't care how cheap that looks!

"It’s a roller for lashes! The eye-opening Hook ‘n’ Roll™ brush grabs, separates, lifts and curls…while the instant curve-setting formula holds for 12 hours.

Obviously because I had a mini size bottle, I can't really comment on the packaging but I have seen the full size bottle online and I absolutely love it! Benefit are going with the idea of the old fashioned plastic hair rollers that you would normally associate with your nan. Mine had hundreds of those bad boys! The box was pretty and glam and also very similar to the They're Real packaging with all their quotes and statistics trying to woo you into buying.

Although I have confessed on other mascara reviews that I'm really not keen on "comb" style brushes I did try and put this aside and give the Roller Lash a fair trial and honestly, I loved it! It did clump up my lashes a little but overall I loved the way it made my lashes look longer and fuller. They're new "Hook and Roll" brush is a lot better then other comb brushes I've tried and I'd definitely recommend the mascara just for that alone.

As I said above, the mascara did clump when I first applied but after a few more strokes, I did manage to even itself out quite well. On the Benefit website, it recommends layering the They're Real mascara on top for "sexy drama beyond belief". I haven't tried this yet so beware people of all the sexy drama I'll be causing!

Overall I really liked this mascara and if at the end of the sample bottle I still like it, I would definitely buy a full size bottle. It's also made me re-think my opinion on the They're Real mascara so I might also give that another go and maybe even write a post on how it went!

You can check the Roller Lash out over on Benefit's website or in your local Boots store!

  1. I just ordered my sample from sephora! Looks like a great mascara!

    1. It really is :) You'll have to write a review when it comes so I can see how you get on! xo

  2. I was pleasantly surprised with this mascara! It's a shame you found it occasionally leaves clumps as I didn't experience this. I used to be a fan of Elle, but wow so many ads in this edition - I struggled to find text to read, haha! :)
