April Payday Superdrug Beauty Haul!

30 April 2015

Hello!

As well as my haul in Primark, the day I got paid I also popped in to my local Superdrug. Over the past few weeks I've read tonnes of different bloggers reviews on all the new make-up and being jealous really is an understatement. Funnily enough as soon as I got into Superdrug, I completely forgot what I wanted to buy or what I needed so I only picked up a handful of items!

The two items I was desperate to buy was the MUA matte lipstick in Fawn Fancy and the Collection Extreme 24 hour eyeliner. Both of these were repurchases for me (reviews here and here) and products that I can no longer live without - sad, I know! As Superdrug had a very generous 3 for 2 offer on ALL make-up, I also picked up the new MUA Whipped Velvet in Spry (Review will happen soon!). On top of all that, Superdrug also had a cute make-up bag freebie if you buy any 3 for 2 products. WOW!

As well as my make-up purchases I also picked up Superdrug's own Micellar cleansing facial wipes. I know a lot of bloggers hate on face wipes but you can't deny that they're a godsend when you're in a rush or just can't be bothered (me a lot of the time!). Lastly on my haul was once again Superdrug's own brand Colour Performance Hair Colour just for a touch-up on my Ombré. I've used this range before and I honestly can't fault them. They leave my hair feeling silky and soft and the colour shades are exactly like what they describe on the box.

April Payday Primark Haul!

29 April 2015

Hello!

I can't even remember the last time I actually went shopping and treated myself with lots of goodies so when payday finally rolled around this month, I was straight up my local shopping centre! My favourite shop to spend my money is Primark and of course this was the first place I headed. Of course I thought that I would write a quick blog post to show you everything that I brought!

primark haul

primarkprimark

White high neck float top | £9
Primark have currently got TONNES of gorgeous Spring/Summer tops and to be honest it was hard to pick which one to buy. I decided to get this high necked sleeveless floating top for only £9! It has a chiffon under layer which just adds to the floaty look. I really love this top and it's super slimming for the bigger girls!

Black & White Vest Top | £4
I didn't see this top at first as it was next to all of Primark's beach clothing but as soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it. As you can see from the picture it's just a plain vest top until you turn it around and see the gorgeous crochet cut-out panel at the back. It's a complete bargain for only £4 and I even managed to pick one up in white as well!

White Slash Back Top | £9
I was on the look out for just a plain white top and this one was exactly what I was looking for. As you can see the back is mega revealing and I actually took it home and altered this slightly so not all of my back is showing!

primark

90's Girl Vest | £4
I know all the slogan t-shirts are a bit old and "done" now but I couldn't resist when I was this cute little pink vest top. Of course I was born in the 90's so I thought it was very appropriate to buy this for myself!

primark

Black Gypsy Dress | £13
Although it's obviously Summer soon, Primark's selection of dresses are not that impressive this year. I did however take a liking to this pretty but simple black gypsy dress. You can wear it several different ways; sleeveless, on your shoulders or just resting below your shoulders. I thought this would be perfect for days out or hopefully a holiday
primark

Boxer pants | £1.70 each
Obviously you can't deny yourself a little visit to Primark's lingerie section; their boxer/boy shorts are my favourite so of course I picked myself up a few more to my collection.
primark

T-Shirt Bra | £5
I cannot rave more about this bra; it is SO comfy! This is my 5th bra from this range that I've brought and it's probably the best bra that I've ever brought from Primark. Plus it's great value for only a fiver!
primark

Black Gladiator Sandals | £8
There was so many gorgeous shoes and sandals this year at Primark and it was difficult to pick which ones to buy. I eventually went with these plain gladiator style sandals which were a complete bargain for only £8!
primark

Black Patterned Sandals | £8
I actually forgot I brought these as I got them a few weeks ago but I still thought I'd include them as they're still from this season! Since buying them I honestly don't think I've took them off. They're gorgeous and they're so comfortable. Bargain for only £8!

primark

2 Row Necklace | £2
I actually brought this to go with the very first top but I don't think it will be long enough. It's still a super cute little duo set and I'm sure I'll find something to wear it with!

Haribo | £1 each

Tag Tuesday: The Wish Tag!

28 April 2015

Hello!

One of my favourite ways to chill out and relax is sitting down and catching up with some of my favourites from Youtube. Admittedly it's been such a long time that I've done this so there was quite a bit to catch up on. One video that caught my eye was one from CutiePieMarzia from back in November 2014 where she completed The Wish Tag so of course I had to pinch the questions and answer it for myself!

wish tag

What do you wish you knew when you were younger?
Just that leaving school and going out in the "big bad world" isn't as scary as everyone made out to be. I've been out of school and college for nearly 6 years now and I seem to have survived okay by myself. Yeah, things are hard sometimes but I always seem to surprise myself with how well I cope with things and always come out the other side better off.

Where do you wish you could live?
I'd love to live somewhere hot. Somewhere in America would be nice thanks! And next to a beach!

What is one thing you wish you could do?
Go travelling. I would love to just pack up and leave and go and see the world. I always think that the boring 9 to 5 life is really not what we were put on this planet for and there are so many amazing places on this world that I need to see before I die!

What would you wish to be better at?
Blogging? Or is that too harsh? No I wish I was better at being more laid back. I really don't like how up tight I can be sometimes so being more calm and with the flow would be better!

What did you wish to become when you were little?
When I was little, I wanted to be come a nurse who worked at a hospital and cured all the sick people but when I got older and realised how much I hated the sight of blood and gore, that idea sort of got threw out the window. When I left school, I trained as a Hairdresser instead. Similar?

Is there anything you wish you could change about the world?
A bit cliché but I just wish that the world was a better place where there are no wars, just peace. It's so depressing turning on the news and seeing more deaths and ISIS drama. Just stop it!

What is your "biggest wish"?
To be happy. I want to be able to look back on my life and be happy with everything that I've accomplished. I'd hate to think that I've wasted my life doing things that didn't make me happy but felt like I had to do them. Life is really too short!

My New Ombré Hair Do!

25 April 2015

Hello!

I LOVE Ombré hair. It's that simple. Now I know that a lot of you reading this will think "Oh god, is Ombré still cool?" and "Isn't it time for a new trend?" but I personally think it's such a great hair style and it just suits so many different people no matter the length of your hair. It's all-rounder hair style!

I first dyed my hair in the ombré style back in 2012 after a few bad attempts of me being a blonde. Not only did it definitely not suit me but it was a bitch to keep up with! The roots were a nightmare! After a few weeks of hating the blonde, I finally had enough and decided to dye it again but instead of going back to all over brunette, I brought myself a light brown hair colour and applied a sort of "backwards-ombré" effect by applying it just to the roots. Like I said that was nearly 3 years ago and I still have that style.

Obviously I've tried to change it up a bit and over the past Winter months I decided to buy a dark blonde/brown colour to create a more subtle ombré effect but now the Summer months are back, I've decided I want my bright blonde tips back! To get them back in shape, I popped to my local Tesco and picked up the Jerome Russell Maximum Blonding Kit to light my ends and a Clairol Nice'N Easy permenant colour to just go over my brown roots and gradually go down my hair length to recreate the ombré look.

Obviously like I said my hair has had a few applications of colour over the years and one load of bleach isn't going to move much so I also recruited the help of the Jerome Russell Colour Toner and of course the blonde favourite, silver shampoo.

Samina Pure Mineral Make-Up Review!

24 April 2015

Hello!

On my little re-discovery venture while cleaning out my blogging room, I've been coming across so many "forgotten" make-up and beauty products that it's actually getting to the point where it's embarassing. Who knew I brought some much stuff?!

My latest find was my Samina Mineral make-up set that I brought from 2013's Birmingham Clothes Show (post here). Yup, that long ago. I always wanted to make a review post about these products but I obviously didn't get round to it and it got a little lost in translation with my moving out etc.

To not waste a good opportunity for a blog, I thought I would go ahead and review it anyway!

Ignore my bad eyebrows!
Now I've never tried mineral make-up before but I've always heard good things about it from lots of different people so when I saw the stand in the Birmingham Clothes Show, I ran straight to it and asked for one of the sales assistant to help me pick out which shade was for me. In the end she said the Fair/Warm Glow was closest to my skin tone so I went to the till and here we are today!

As you can see from the picture it does fit my skin tone quite well but overall I was quite disappointed. Normally I will opt for foundations with a high coverage as I have quite a few spots and blemishes and a lot of product is needed to cover them. This mineral foundation did nothing. I found that I still had a lot of red areas around my cheeks and dark circles under my eyes and although the mineral is obviously a very light cover, I'd personally need a lot of concealer which to me, defeats the point.

The first time I used the blusher and bronzer I really wasn't a fan and I thought that they were far too dark to go with my skin tone but after trying them again and blending in a lot more, they are quite nice products.

Personally I'm not a fan of the whole mineral make-up idea as it's not enough coverage for me but I really can still see the appeal for other people. I would definitely recommend these products if you were on holiday and was looking for light coverage as they would be perfect. For me, I'll stick to my Seventeen foundation!

W7 Night Glow Highlighter & Illuminator Review!

22 April 2015

Hello!

As I've mentioned in a few other posts, I like to buy make-up and then completely forget about them. I always buy them under the intention of testing them out and then writing up my review or first impression. But of course, I'm terrible at that and will more than likely put them in my "to review" pile and completely forget I even brought them. Terrible beauty blogger!

Another product that I neglected was the W7 Night Glow highlighter. I can't remember when I ordered this or even where from, that's how long ago it was! I do however remember that I saw a review on Blogslovin and how it was raved about being a dupe for Benefit's High Beam highlighter. Of course as a blogger who loves a good bargain, I thought I would order me a bottle and give it a try myself.

Now I don't really think you can see it all so well on that picture but I really love the way this highlighter makes my skin look. At first I was a little tentative with the typical "nail polish" brush as I didn't know how to apply or how much but after using it for a few days I started to love that natural glow that it gave my face.

It was a little "wet" to start with and I do normally opt for powders than liquid but even I have to admit that I was a little converted after a few days. The formula went onto my skin evenly and was easy to built up for a more dramatic and noticeable effect. Perfect for both day and night!

I haven't tried the Benefit highlighter so I can't really compare it to the more expensive beauty product, but I will say it's a nice little cheap alternative if you're like me and don't like splashing the cash too much!

Benefit's High Beam - £19.50 or W7 Night Glow - £3.95
I'd definitely go for the dupe!
