How To Have A Stress-free Christmas!

30 November 2015

Hello!

Let's be honest - as much as Christmas is a fun and exciting time of the year, it can also be one of the most stressful. Just getting all your shopping done before the big day can be a task all in itself. Rushing around your local shopping centre, fighting over the last pair of fluffy slippers in your size and just hours and hours of standing around queueing. Urgh! My head hurts just thinking about it.

Well sit back and relax as I have created my own little checklist of how to have a stress-free Christmas!

stress free christmas

1. Order online!
Avoid the crowds all together and order your shopping on line. Yes there is always the postage cost and the worry of whether it'll get here in time but I would rather pay around £10 for next day delivery instead of fighting over things in store. Plus there has been so many occasions when I've seen something I really want on line and I've put off ordering it until I go instore, but then by the time I have, it's gone out of stock! If you see something you like and

2. Reuse / Re-gift.
Every year I look at all the lovely new decorations and baubles being brought out and I really have to stop myself from going mad and buying them all. I did however only buy new ones last year so they will definitely get a bit more show time than just one year! Re-gifting presents is a bit of no-go with some people, but if done right it can save you a lot of money. Just make sure you don’t gift it back to the original sender! Awkz

3. Wowcher / Groupon
These websites have saved my life over the years; not only by their great sales but by actually giving me present ideas! Even this year I had no idea what to buy my dad but after a look on Wowcher, I have now found the perfect gift idea for him! Perfect.

4. Voucher websites
When you do need to splash out on something, then make sure you not only shop around, but if you’re buying online to check out voucher websites such as Vouchacodes.co.uk to help you get the best price possible on those must-have presents.

5. Cash back websites
The same with number 4, saving money in every available way is just essential over Christmas. Just think, whatever you save means you can buy more presents! Signing up for Cash back websites are super easy and all you need to do is visit the website you wish to purchase from via the cash back website. Simple!

6. Gift cards
When in doubt, just buy those pesky relatives a gift card to their favourite store. They're definitely not as fun to open on Christmas morning but then at least they can go out themselves and buy something they actually want! Win win!

7. Get organised!
This probably the hardest one for me, I am always spotting things and thinking ohh that would be just right for someone and so I buy it, but then I get home and think why the hell have I brought this!? I have now vowed to get more organised by actually write a list of what you really need and stick to it!

8. IOU
Sometimes things just don't work out and you can't always buy that perfect present you was after. It was either out of stock or you was just short of funds - it happens! Well you can send your loved ones a cute little IOU from the money saving expert website until you can buy it. Save of the day!

What are you favourite stress-free tips?

Life Update | New Chapter!

27 November 2015

Hello!

It feels like the last couple of months have been a bit of a blur and it's only recently that I've been able to get my head straight and actually think back about everything that's happened! The main reason that I'm so excited and happy is that I got a new job! Yay me!

At the beginning of October I attended a call back interview for a job that I actually went for a few months beforehand. As it was a call back interview, I'd already been there before and obviously didn't get it which was quite disappointing but the lady who called me back said that since I had done so well in the interview, they'd like to offer me another vacancy for the same job. Of course I jumped at the chance and said yes!

Since I had been at my now old job for nearly 6 years, I had to give a month's notice which felt like an absolute age to wait but finally, those days starting counting down and my last day was here. As you can see from my pictures below, I was thoroughly spoilt and I wasn't expecting any of it! Let's just say it was an emotional day.

I've now started my new job and I'm absolutely loving it although it's such a massive change from my old job! The main difference is that it's full time and I'm coming home quite tired so I have no idea when I'm going to squeeze in all my blogging!

I know this post is a bit of ramble and to be honest, that's exactly what my heads been like for the past month. I just hope that everyone bears with me while I adjust and will stick around while I sort out a proper blog schedule!

I know it's become a bit of a joke to say "New Year, New Me" but I do honestly think that 2016 will be an amazing year for me and I cannot wait for it to start!

Garnier Olia Permanent Hair Colour Take 2!

25 November 2015

Hello!

If you're a follower of my blog or even my Instagram profile, you'll have noticed that I like to change my hair. A lot. A few weeks ago now I lobbed my hair and although I absolutely loved the cut, I wasn't so keen on the colour.

Over the Summer I did admit to transition from brunette to blonde and although it was quite successful, I wanted to back to my brunette side for the Autumn/Winter months. Yes, what a waste of time!

In my quest to be blonde though, it did give me a chance to try our Garnier's new Olia hair colour and I have to admit that it's probably one of the best that I've ever used! Instead of the usual "creamy" formula you see from other brands, Olia has invented a new formula that uses 60% oil includiong natural flower oils. Not only does this offer the same great coverage as previous colours but I also found that it's definitely less damaging to your hair condition.

garnier olia

As I said above, the formula is majority oil based and as soon as you have applied to your hair you can feel it working it's magic. It's like a hair treatment and a home colouring kit all in one!

Ignore my terrible bed head in picture one but it was the best picture to show my "before" hair colour! As I am a terrible Ombré lover I did try and keep a bit of my blonde tips and although I don't have the length anymore, I still think it looks amazing!

I have used this hair colour before when I was in my blonde phase so you can read that post here! If you're interested in giving this collection a go yourself, you can check it out here on Superdrug where it's currently on offer!

NOTD | Nails Inc London Uptown Nail Polish Review!

23 November 2015

Hello!

Although I love when I've just freshly painted my nails and they look perfect, I have to admit that I don't tend to get that excited over new nail polishes any more. When you consider that my job is mainly typing all day on a computer, nail varnishes don't tend to last me longer than a few days regardless of their chip resistance. Nothing works!

I did however get very excited when I opened September's Glossybox and saw a full sized bottle from Nails Inc staring back at me. Not only that but it was in a gorgeous dusky pink shade that I would have actually brought for myself! Thanks Glossybox!

As soon as I opened my Glossybox, I just had to apply it to my nails to see what it looked like. I was like a child at Christmas. As predicted it's just as gorgeous pink shade as you'd expect from the bottle. Very me!

Since I have problems with the lasting power with nail polishes, I was hoping for over £10 a bottle, it would be pretty good. Unfortunately it wasn't. Even after a couple of days I was starting to see chips appearing on my nails. Not very good!

Although I loved the colour, I wouldn't rate this nail polish too high because it didn't last long at all and unfortunately for over £10 a bottle, I would expect more! As I got this in my Glossybox, I'm not sure where to buy this from although I did find it on the Nails Inc website for £15.00.

Bullying Bloggers & Treaclemoon | #BeYou Campaign

20 November 2015

Hello!

Even with everything terrible that's going on in the world, there are still small time bullies out there who seem to get pleasure in causing other people grief. Whether it's taunting someone to their face or the cat-like bitching behind their backs. It's almost second nature to some people to be mean to people. When did this start being okay?

Now people have evolved and started bullying on social media, where now they can say all their nasty comments without even having to look the person in the face. Nice. I've mentioned this happening between bloggers before in other posts and one thing I really do not enjoy from blogging is that type of drama. I've read stories on other blogs and even seen it happen a few times myself and it honestly makes me feel like we're back in the school playground again.

Well at treaclemoon, they believe that true beauty comes from the heart and is something that can only shine to it's very brightest potential when we have the confidence to be ourselves. They believe in it so much that they've created a whole campaign called #BeYou to raise awareness of the amazing work of BulliesOut.

As well as BulliesOut, Treaclemoon are also teaming up with bloggers and "social media influencers" to help support and promote the campaign to end social media bullying and to help inspire people to #BeYou and there's a few different ways you can get involved!

-Tweet +treaclemoon_UK or post on their Facebook page an inspiring quote about the joy of being yourself, using the hashtag #BeYou
-Instagram a picture of whatever you feel celebrates something that goes into making you, you. This can be a picture with your friends, a hobby or even your "bed hair" as suggested by Treaclemoon. Don't forget to also tag them and use the hahtag #BeYou
-Tweet or Instagram a picture of you wearing any of the #BeYou merchandise available at their store!

To say thank you, Treaclemoon sent me the Sweet Blackberry Memories shower gel and #BeYou wrist band! Without turning this into a beauty review post, I will however say that the shower gel smells UHHHH-mazing and it makes me look forward to having a shower! Definitely recommend you trying it out for yourself!

To summarise this post and to not let myself ramble on and on for hours on end, I really support this campaign as I think it's such a big problem nowadays. People don't seem to realise how hurtful and pressurising even one comment can be to someone and instead we should all start to be more empowering to motivate each other!

What are your thoughts on bullying on social media?

Manna Kadar Conditioning Lash Primer Review

18 November 2015

Hello!

I have to admit that when it comes to priming, I'm a bit of a noob. Normally when I get up in a morning, I'm in such a rush to get ready and out the door for work that only the bare minimum of make-up is usually applied. And you can forget about getting up earlier - I need my beauty sleep!

I have over the years since creating this blog, I have started to take more care of my skin and actually purchased normally unheard of products like toner and cleansers. Bad beauty blogger I know!

Well in one of my previous Glossyboxes, I was kindly sent the Manna Conditioning Lash Primer and of course I had no idea that these products exist but I was still extremely excited to try it out!

Now after a bit of research into the product and the idea of eyelash primers, I found that it's there to keep mascara fresh all day long and to prevent feathering & fading throughout the day. It also helps to moisturize your lashes throughout the day and you could also use at night as a lash conditioner, multipurpose or what!

Over the couple of weeks of me testing it out, I did start to notice a difference to the condition and how long my masara lasted throughout the day. Instead of my lashes looking flat and lifeless (if lashes can look lifeless) they still looked volumised and lush!

I did also notice that the condition of my lashes was a lot better after using the primer. Instead of normally losing at least one lash per eye when taking my mascara off, my lashes were now strong and thick. Can't moan about that!

Although I did love this primer I'm not too sure on the $24.00 price tag, that sounds a little too steep for me. You can however check it out here to make your own mind up!

Motivational Monday | My Favourite Quotes

16 November 2015

Hello!

I know there are quite a few other bloggers who write Motivational Monday posts and I don't want to cash in on their ideas but I did notice that I have gathered quite a collection of motivational quotes on my iPhone so I thought that I would put them all in a post for you all. You never know who might need a little motivation!

Schwartzkopf Got2Be Mind Blowing Quick Shape Mousse Review!

13 November 2015

Hello!

Since cutting my hair into the lob, I've found that it normally needs a lot more love and attention to get it to look how I want it to. And that's not necessarily a bad thing, just something I haven't really been used for for years.

I have to admit I'm quite lazy when it comes to straightening and curling my hair and will normally just go to work with the "Just got out of bed" look. But thankfully, that works perfectly with my lob. All I need to do is a bit of salt spray to the ends, ruffle a bit and done! Easy!

I do also use mousse when wet to add that extra volume and hold throughout the day and a couple of weeks ago, I came across the Schwarzkopf Got2b Mind Blowing Mousse and I thought I would give it a go!

The first thing that I loved about this mousse was that it was so creamy and soft. And although that sounds like a stupid thing to say about hair mousse, it's exactly what you look for when you've had years of applying cheap mousse and it turning your hair rock hard. This does not happen with the Mind Blowing mousse!

Another thing is the smell. It's absolutely gorgeous. It makes me want to smoother it all over me. Urmm moving on!

I've been trialling the mousse for a few weeks now and in that time I've tried straightening it, curling and then leaving it it's usual messy self and I honestly can't fault the mousse. It really did hold all of my styles and it even offered heat protection from my heat tools.

Overall it's a great product and I can easily see myself replacing this bottle when I'm done. If this is something you need in your life, check it out on the boots website for £4.19 and where it's currently include in a 3 for 2 offer!

W7 Wild Lash Lengthening Mascara Review!

Hello!

The main idea behind creating this blog was that I would try and show off the cheaper and easily accessible (high street) make-up brands and that they could quite easily stand up to the more expensive designer brands and so far I think it's been very sucessful. Spending more money on cosmetics doesn't mean that the product will be any better.

I'm always on the look out for bargain havens and on one of my recent binges I found my perfect website - The Online Pound Store. As well as filling my basket with toiletries and a few car air fresheners, there was also quite a few make-up items that caught my eye. One of them was the W7 Wild Lash mascara.

w7 mascara

I have used W7 before with their BIG lash mascara and although I didn't pay very much for it, I was in love with it! For £1.50 a tube, I found my favourite mascara of 2013 and I was actually a little gutted when it ran out. The review is here if you want to check it out!

Having such good results with the BIG Lash mascara, I was expecting the same with the Wild Lash version. Unforunately I didn't think it lived up to my expectations and I didn't really notice anything too "wild" about my lashes after using. Yes they did volumise my lashes a little but I noticed that after a few hours I saw that they had deflated slightly.

Although I wouldn't say this is the best mascara in the world, I'm not going to slate it too much as it did only cost me one pound so I can't really moan! I will definitely try and get some use out of it for work and maybe the gym. Waste not want not!

My Recent AliExpress Goodies: Part 3!

11 November 2015

Hello!

Yes, I know! Another AliExpress post. I honestly cannot help myself whenever I go on the website and normally within 10 minutes I've already added about 20 items to my wish list. Everything is just so cheap!

Of course I thought I would continue my little AliExpress haul posts with a third instalment! You can also catch up on my first and second post here!

maRC JACOBS WATCH

I brought another Marc Jacobs watch last year and although I really loved it - the battery had stopped working and the cream wrist strap had started to look a bit dirty. So I thought I'd treat myself to a new one! Of course I didn't listen to myself and once again ordered a cream wrist strap watch. Look at how gorgeous it is though?!

tsum tsum

I'm not going to go crazy and order about 20 of these but the Marie toy just looked too adorable not to order! It even has a little chain on the back so you can clip it to your bag or use as a key ring.

crystal necklace

Crystal Drop Necklace | £1.00
These crystal necklaces seemed to be quite popular with bloggers at the moment so I thought I would jump on the bandwagon and get myself one. You can pick it in different stones but I thought I'd still to plain crystal! Asif crystal could be plain!

cat pen

Another bit of merch to add to my Crazy Cat Lady collection. It has now been added to the rest of the goodies in my handbag just encase of emergencies! Like to write my number down for someone who finds my Crazy Cat Lady attractive. You never know!

aliexpress

Glitter Cat iPhone Case | £2.36
Yup, another piece of kit for my Crazy Cat Lady collection, this gorgeous glitter silicone iPhone case. How cute is it though?! It's just perfect!

aliexpress

Strawberry Cat Bed |  £5.87
Over five pound completely wasted as my cat despises this cat bed. Every attempt to make her get in it has ended badly so it's currently stuck behind the sofa for now. Shame as it's absolutely adorable!

aliexpress

I really wanted some headphones to use so when I'm blogging away, I can still listen to my music without getting tangled up with wires. Unfortunately this hasn't happened as for some reason I can't connect it through blue tooth on my computer. I can however use this from my iPhone and my Playstation so at least it hasn't completely gone to waste!

aliexpress haul

Another iPhone case! It's been a while since I changed the case so I felt like I needed a few more. I have to admit that I've used the cat one a lot more than this one but it's still super adorable and I know it will definitely get some use time eventually!

aliexpress haul

I LOVE this necklace! I wasn't too sure on what to expect when I ordered as I know jewellery can be very cheaply made ect but this is a gorgeous little necklace! I just wanted small necklace to throw on with my jumpers and comfy dresses so I look like I've made an effort (bad I know) and this necklace really is perfect for this. I cannot wait to wear it out!
