Life | My New Car ft MyCarCheck!

As many of you already know, 2016 didn't start out that great for me and there was quite a few bumps in the road. The main bump (more like a hill!) was that my beloved Golf decided to set itself on fire just 5 days into the new year. Thanks a lot friend!

After everything was settled with the insurance, the prospect of getting a new car did make me slightly happy again. I've had my eye on a few cars since the "incident" and after a bit of discussion, my heart was set on the Citroen DS3.

I am a bit of a car freak and that's mainly due to my dad and my aunt so looking for a new car always excites me. But after my past history with buying cars that break down on me, I'm always a little scared with what car I'm getting. Some cars can look great in the showroom or even on a test drive, but I guarantee that after a few weeks, things will start to go wrong on it. It's just my luck.

To help make sure that never happens to people again, MyCarCheck have come up with the quick and easy way to check your car's history without making the same mistakes I did. From £1.99 to £19.95, there's different packages with a variety of different checks made on your car.

As you can see from the check below, my new car is pretty good which does give me a bit of comfort that there might be any hidden problems with my car. Always a plus!

As well as letting you know and problems it's had, it also gives you a handy guide of what you should reasonably be paying to buy this car, or what to value it at if you're looking to get rid. This in itself is quite handy!

If you're looking to buy a new car or would just like to know a bit more of your current cars history, then check out to find out today!

Once Upon A Lime: Soap & Glory Bath Set ♥

I think everyone over the years has tried SOMETHING from Soap & Glory. I must admit that I was a bit late to the S&G party myself but ever since being converted, I always try and keep a healthy stock of lotions and potions for when I most need pampering.

Obviously my mother knows me quite well and for Christmas, she brought me the Once Upon A Lime gift set and a small collection of the Sugar Lime products! Yummy!

Now last year, I had The Next Big Thing set and I was really impressed because there were different products from different ranges in S&G and it was a good chance to try them all out. This year though my mom brought me the Once Upon A Lime set which I said above, includes a handful of the Sugar Crush products. In last years box, Sugar Crush body scrub was probably my favourite product so I was happy to see that it inside this set as well.

The whole of the Sugar Crush range smell absolutely gorgeous and it's by far my favourite of all the fruit scents from Soap & Glory (the orange one made me ill!). Let's just say I'm very happy with this set and it makes me very excited to get in the shower!

Maybelline Falsies Push Up Mascara Review!

It's feels like it's been ages since I had a good beauty shopping haul. All I've been trying to do for the past couple of weeks is use up all of my older make-up products to create some room for all the new products that I keep seeing advertised!

The one product I was desperate to try, even though I still have a handful of other mascaras to use up, was the Maybelline Falsies Push Up Mascara. From all the advertisements and reviews going around I knew I had to get my hands on one pretty quick.

When I actually got into Boots, I was a little unsure of whether to buy this or a Seventeen lengthening mascara but the bright packaging of the Maybelline won me over. A girl can’t say no to pink!

Another reason I was going to choose a different mascara was that Falsies Push Up is a comb brush and me and comb brushes do not get on. Most of the ones I’ve tried in the past just clump my lashes together and end up leaving me looking vile. I did however put past experiences aside and brought it anyway!

The next day I was eager to try it out and I have to admit that I was thoroughly impressed! Instead of my lashes being clumped together, they were volumised and seemed to have just doubled in size. Amazing.

Not only did the formula make my lashes look amazing but it actually lasted the whole day without leaving me with panda eyes. What more could I ask for?

Overall I’m really impressed with this mascara and it has now become my number one must have product. You can check it out for yourselves for £5.99 at Boots!

Maria Nila Luminous Colour Hair Masque Review ♥

It's always nice to pamper yourself every once in a while. My favourite thing to do is run myself a nice hot bubble bath, light a few candles (maybe pour a nice cold glass of wine) and relax with a moisturising hair or face mask. Lush!

Well a few months back now, Glossybox sent everybody the Maria Nila Luminous Colour Masque in their September box and although I did initially forget about it (obviously since it's now January!) I did remember it and then ran myself an extra special bath just so I had the excuse to test it out.

Since lobbing my hair I haven't dyed my hair so I wouldn't say that my hair is in desperate need of a specialised colour treatment but I still wouldn't say no to a good hair masque!

The scent was absolutely gorgeous and after just 10 minutes of being on my hair, I could easily get my comb through my hair without any complaint or vigorous tugging. Like I said above, I haven't dyed my hair for a while so I couldn't really test out whether that aspect of it worked out or not, but I was impressed with how soft it made my hair.

Although I really enjoyed using the masque, I wouldn't say it's any better than a cheaper treatment from Aussie or Pantene that I've tried in the past. It's a slightly more expensive treatment and you can check it out here if you weren't fortunate enough to get in your Glossybox!

Happy New Year: Glossybox January 2016

With the craziness of Christmas and starting my new job, it feels like the days and weeks have just flown by! So much so that it was once again a shock when my Glossybox appeared through my door. I really need to start setting reminders or something!

I was however very excited to see what was inside as I'd not seen any sneak peaks or teasers for what was inside so all products would be a surprise for me!

Unani Dermo Defense Face Mask | £11.36
I love a good face mask and I can't wait to try this out for myself! The Winter is not doing my skin any favours at the moment and it definitely needs a bit of TLC!

Teeez Cosmetics Oasis Gem Lipstick | £11.93
The packaging for this lipstick is just gorgeous! So pretty and colourful. Unfortunately, my lipstick was broken as soon as I opened it but I still hope to be able to get some use out of it!

Angele Paris Red Nail Lacquer | £6.32
A brand I've never heard of before and a product I'm very excited to try! It's a gorgeous red shade which will look perfect for the Winter months!

Glossybox Eye shadow in Glossy Mauve | £7.10
Another Glossybox special product! The last one came in the shape of a highlighter which I fell in love with so I have high hopes for this eye shadow as well! Plus it's in a gorgeous satin mauve shade. How can you resist?

Madara Cellular Repair Serum | £38
I think it's becoming a very recurring theme in Glossybox now to have an extremely expensive product in each box. I mean I'm never going to pay nearly £40 for a serum, however good it is! I will however happily test it out and maybe write a review on it!

Very excited for the February box as it includes a MUA lip glaze that we all get to pick our favourite shade. Yay!

Tanya Burr Daydream Lip Gloss Review!

Now I have to admit that me and lip gloss haven't always had the best of relationships. Mainly because there's been too many incidents of my hair being stuck to my lips in windy weather. Not a good look!

Nevertheless when I heard that Tanya Burr was releasing her own make-up range, just lip glosses and nail polishes to start, I thought I would give some blogger love and test out one of her lip glosses!

Ignore my bout of bad skin. Always happens when I want to take blog pictures! Typical!

I ended up going with one of her very neutral shades in Daydream which I would describe as a very shimmery nude colour. The applicator is quite generous and not much of the product is needed for a full glossy look to be achieved. Another little plus to this product is it was a nice fruity scent when applied, and doesn't leave a horrible chemical like some other slightly cheaper products!

Although I do hate lip glosses, I have to admit it was kind of nice for a change. Not sure if I would start ditching my lipsticks and lip balms but I did enjoy swapping it up! You can check out Daydream on the Superdrug website and see the rest of her collection as well!

Life | An Update!

It's been a while since I actually wrote an update post and since so much has happened even in the short few weeks of 2016, I thought now would be a great time to do one. Beware, there is some swearing and bluntness in this post!

First, my New Year started great until my fuckboy of an ex started messaging me again. Not only was that an unwelcome surprise but so was his offer of being fuck buddies while he continued to play happy families with his new girlfriend. Charming ay?

Obviously after turning that down, the next couple of days went well. Until the 5th January. That's when shit really hit the fan. My beloved little Golf decided it had had enough of driving around and blew itself up.

The short story is that I drove my car all the way home but within a few minutes of being parked up, my neighbour was banging on the front door to say my car was smoking. Within a few more minutes, the whole front of my car was on fire. The fire brigade was rang but my car was already destroyed! :'( It was towed away and then began the battle of the Insurance Payout.

The day after all this that had gone, I was then greeted with a speeding ticket with a lovely fine attached through my letter box. Not what I needed AT ALL!

As you can see it's been a VERY stressful couple of weeks but they do say that bad luck comes in 3s? Surely I'm due a bit of good luck now!

What I Got For Christmas 2015: Perfumes!

I know that a few people hate being brought perfumes and aftershave gifts sets as they see that as a polite way of the person saying they smell. Nice! Or they moan because they never like the scents that they get given and they end up going to waste. I however love it for that reason! (Not the one about me smelling!) When I go shopping for a new perfume, I normally spend a good couple of hours just standing and smelling all the different ones on offer so when someone buys you a perfume as a present, that just takes all that hassle away from me. Even if I don't like it, I will still wear it then waste my time trying to find one I do like. Maybe that's just me!

This year for Christmas though I'd like to think that I got extremely lucky with my perfumes gifts as every single one I love!

Firstly my parents treated me to Boss Femme which is a very sweet and floral but not sickly and overpowering scent. I have to admit that this is the type of fragrance I do normally go for so well done mom for that win!

Next is the DKNY Be Delicious Skin perfume from my cousin. I've never tried any of the DKNY range even though a few of my friends have and I've always thought it smelt amazing. Now I can happily say that I am part of the DKNY crew.

Lastly is a good old classic, Lacoste Touch of Pink which was gifted to me by a new work friend! I used to wear this scent when I was around 17 years old so it's quite a reminiscent fragrance for me! She did actually brought me the set as well which came with a tube of body lotion but that will not last very long at all.

I think I'm set for the 2016 ;)

Beauty Products: 10 Basis Things You Must Haves!

When it comes to women, they have the habit of buying and storing a number of beauty products. This leads to product overflow in their store. The best way to solve this problem is going for the basics. You only need just 10 products in your store to look best
 (picture from Pink Elephant Blog)

Whether you are warm undertone or cool undertone you need to use the right foundation. You can take the help of experts to find the right shade for you. If you are not sure, you can try out some on your cheeks, which one is barely visible is the best for you.
Tip: First of all clean your face and then apply moisturizer. Now by using sponge or brush or your fingers apply foundation. Make sure to apply on the areas where it is more needed and spread gently.

The best way to hide your dark circles is by applying concealer. Yes, it is true that it is temporary, but when applied properly will give good results.
Tip: First of all apply a non-greasy eye cream and then apply concealer using your ring finger. Apply them properly where you have dark circles and let it absorb for a minute. Make sure to spread it lightly or you will end up rubbing off the concealer.

If you succeed to apply the right blush it will make others feel like you are blushing rather that feeling that you have applied blush. For better looks, use lighter shades without shimmer.
Tip: Apply some blush with a brush on the apples of your cheeks. If you are able to see clearly the area where your blush begins or ends, this means that you have applied more or the shade is dark.

Eyelash curler
If you want to make your eyelashes look good with mascara, make sure to curl them using an eyelash curler.
Tip: Keep in mind that you should not curl your eyelashes once you have applied mascara. You can use eyelash curler which are made from plastic than from metal. All you have to do is to hold your eyelash from the base and press it for few seconds. You will be able to create amazing curls.

Use a good quality mascara for your eyes. It is good to toss it properly before you apply it.
Tip: Apply mascara on your eyelashes after curling them. Make sure to move the wand in the zigzag motion when you are moving from base to the tip of the eyelash. This will make sure that all the lashes are covered with mascara.

Eyes are very sensitive part and so for the same reason don’t use harsh things on it. Use an eyeliner which glides without much pressure. Make sure that the product is approved by an ophthalmologist.
Tip: When you are applying eyeliner to the upper eyelash, try to stretch your skin as it will make it tight and you will be able to apply to the base properly.

You can use a shimmery highlighter for your face. It will help to make your nose look slim and lift your brows. For versatility use peach, soft nude or pink shade.
Tip: If you want to make your nose look slim use thin line of highlighter on the length of the nose bone and spread properly. If you want to highlight your cheekbones, then apply highlighter above your blush on the cheeks.

Some shades look pink while others look brown. So make sure to find which shades helps to light up your entire face.
Tip: Make sure to take care of your chapped lips before applying lipstick. Better apply a thick layer when you go to bed and wake up with softer lips.

Eye shadow
Applying eye shadow is an art. Some shades look natural while others make you look out of the box. So for better result apply shades which are little darker from your skin tone.
Tip: Apply eye shadow using a brush. Make sure to apply light strokes so as to avoid any hard lines.

Brush set
You can perform your make-up properly. So better invest in some good quality brush set.
Tip: Make sure to clean your brush after every time you use it. Brush cleaners are available at cosmetic and department stores.

Apart from applying beauty products, you need to follow some beauty regimes to look good like doing regular facial, waxing and beauty and spa treatments. This helps to improve your natural looks. These services are available for less by using the Wahanda promo codes. So if you are planning to get ready for a special occasion, get yourself some time at Wahanda before you go for the above mentioned beauty products.

W7 Banana Dreams Review!

I'd say I'm quite slow then it comes to catching up with fashion and make-up trends. I have no idea how or why as I'm always reading beauty and fashion blogs and websites for what's hot. Maybe it's just not meant to be!

Well one product that I've had my eye on for a while now is the coveted "Banana powder"! Made famous by Kim K, the banana powder has gone a little crazy in the make-up world for it's power to hide any under eye bags and blemishes and of course I've been on the lookout for a cheap alternative to the designer brand. Enter w7!

Ignore my lovely make-up free face!

I've reviewed quite a few W7 products over the years and I really do have to admit that they are very hit and miss! Some products have been amazing and others have been a complete waste of money. I was hoping that their Banana Dreams would definitely be in the good pile!

Personally, although you can see a difference in the bags under my eyes on the with/without picture - I wasn't that impressed the powder. A few years ago I tested the MUA Pro Base Prime and Conceal cream and I have to say I much preferred that as the difference was so much more noticable.

The only thing that I did enjoy about the banana powder was that it was light and was easy to apply with the bonus of being very easy to layer up. For the price of £4.72, I have to admit that I would prefer the much cheaper and better coverage concealer MUA palette for only £4.00!

Glasses Direct: The Easy Way To Order Glasses!*

I don't know if it's just me, but the whole process of going to the opticians is quite frankly, a ball ache. The eye test itself is normally really long and boring and it always gets to the point where I can't tell any difference between A and B so I'm lucky I get a decent prescription at the end anyway!

The next part of that stress is picking a frame. URGHHHHHH! Why do all the nice frames never suit my face or are just ridiculously expensive? And why do the shop assistants look at you as you try them on so you feel really self conscious when I'm trying to pose in the mirror. It's just so frustrating!

Well, to try and take some of that stress away from the easily frustrated like me, Glasses Direct have come together and created a website where you can scroll through hundreds of different frames through the comfort of your own home and order them to be sent to you for a home trial. Yay!

If you've not heard of Glasses Direct, or seen their advert on TV, they're an online retailer based in the United Kingdom that sells glasses direct to customers. They specialise in London Retro Glasses as well as other brand names such as Lipsy and Ray Bans. They're also the world's largest direct provider of prescription glasses. Oooh impressive!

glasses direct

The choice in the Women's Glasses section is amazing and it look a while for me to decide which frames to order as I said before, there are hundreds to go through! Eventually I did find 4 that I liked and in the post they went. They arrived pretty quick and I was very eager to try them all on. As you can see from the picture above I tried to go for something similar to what I wear now (because I know it suits me) and different at the same time (because who wants two exact same pair of glasses?!)

In the end, I made my decision and sent the glasses back and eagerly awaited my prescription glasses to be sent to me! Within a couple of days they were here and I honestly couldn't be happier. The glasses fitted me perfect and my prescription suited me fine. They even added an additional reflective coating which makes me love them that little bit more! No more headaches at work any more!

glasses direct

Although I said above that normally choosing a frame is frustrating as hell, ordering frames to home for you to try just makes the whole process soo much easier. I could take my time looking at the frames, ask different friends and family for their opinions and as I did above with those pictures, pose to high heavens without being judged by sales assistants! Unless you put them on the internet for everyone to see, but you get the idea...

Overall the whole process from picking my frames for home trial and sending them back to entering my prescription and receiving my glasses was amazing. I honestly couldn't fault them and it saved me from a lot of stress. I would definitely recommend the site if you too hate the whole procedure and look for an easy alternative!

Now if you don't mind me, I'm going to stare at my new glasses in the mirror again!

Essence Liquid Lipstick in Show Off Review!

I'm not sure about you guys, but I love buying a new lipstick. There's something magical to me about trying new shades and different formulas to change the way you look. Maybe it's just me?

Well back in December, Glossy box treated us all with a gorgeous coral liquid lipstick from Essence and since I obviously new lipsticks, it was the first product that I got out to try.

Although I have loved every Essence product that I've ever been sent by Glossy box, I've never actually gone out and brought myself something. I think it mainly has to do with the fact that they're only sold in Wilko's and there isn't one in my local shopping centre. Unlucky!

I was however very excited at the thought of trying their new liquid lipsticks!

As soon as I saw the colour I did think that it was way too bright and that it definitely wouldn't suit me. After actually applying it to my lips though I have to admit that I was shocked by how much I loved it. The name definitely matches the shade and it makes me feel very glam when I were it.

The formula was great and creamy and it didn't leave my lips feeling too sticky like with most lip glosses. The colour lasted a good couple of hours before it needed a top up and a few hours is something I can happily live with.

Another cute touch to the product is the packaging. I like the way that Essence has combined the shape of a lipstick in the typically lip gloss plastic tube. It slightly reminds me of those novelty drinking glasses. Just me?

Like I said above, the only thing I would moan about is the availability of their products! They don't have an online store and I don't have a Wilko's that near me and not coming out of my way. I definitely need to go to a Wilko's though and stock up on products because there's so many products that I need!

Naobay Calming Face Toner Review!

Back in June last year, Instanatural sent me their Pore Tightening Vitamin C Facial Toner to try and review and although it's not something I really bothered with before, I found that I really enjoyed using it and it seemed to fit in well with my night and day time skincare routine. And that it actually made a difference to my skin, so I was very grateful!

Unfortunately though I used it all up quite quickly and I had no idea which other toner was good enough to take it's place. Luckily for me, Glossybox seemed to have heard my internal plea and sent me the Naobay Calming Facial toner in their August box last year! (yes, I'm very behind!)

naobay toner

This isn't the first time I've heard of Naobay as they're a bit of recurring product used in Glossyboxes and back in May last year, I used their Moisturising Peel Facial Scrub, another product I loved. So I was quite excited to try the toner and I already expected g

I wasn't really sure what to expect from this "calming" toner but I surprised to discover that it gave a a very strange but pleasant cooling feeling all over my face. Sort of like rubbing your face over with a cold damp cloth, just less wet. Weird description I know!

Obviously the main question is: does it work? And for the most part I think it does. As I said I've been using the Insta Natural toner before this and I haven't noticed a decline in my skin condition so I'm taking that as a good sign? I've had no major breakouts and my skin still looks youthful and healthy so surely that's a win!

Overall I really enjoyed this toner and I'm happy to have it replace my beloved Insta Natural toner. I'm not sure how tempted I will be to repurchase due to the price tag, but it's still a really great product and I will happily enjoy using the last of it! You can check it out on Amazon for £10.22 here!

Tag Tuesday: The 2015 Look Back Tag!

Happy 2016!

If you're a follower of me then you'll have noticed that I do love a good tag post. Not only are they fun to fill out but it's also a good chance for viewers to get to know the person behind the blog.

2015 has been such a struggle of a year and I'm so happy to see finally see the end of it. I know it's a very cliche thing to say but I really do hope that 2016 brings a new me! Last year saw me at my lowest and I want 2016 to see me at my highest!

To celebrate 2016, I thought I would do a "look back" tag for 2015. Please feel free to take this tag for over on your own blog!

1. What was the single best thing that happened this past year?
Although it happened near the end of the year, the best thing that happened to me was definitely getting my new job. I'd been looking for something over a year so finally get something that was perfect and that I actually love waking up for is a dream! :)

2. What was the single most challenging thing that happened?
My break-up. Definitely.

3. What was an unexpected joy this past year?
Probably realising just how much my family were there for me in a time of need. I always feel like a bit of a black sheep in the family but it really surprised me how everyone rushed to help me. I'll never forget that.

4. What was an unexpected obstacle?
Once again, my break-up. I can see this answer being used quite a lot!

5. Pick three words to describe 2015.

6. Pick three words your friends and family would use to describe your 2015 (don’t ask them; guess based on how you think they see you).
I have no idea and I wouldn't want to ask to be honest. I think they'd agree with my roller coaster comment

7. Pick three words your friends and family would use to describe their 2015 (again, without asking).
Once again, I have no idea. I hope their 2015 was good and that I didn't add any additional stress to their lives! ha

8. What were the best books you read this year?
I don't actually think I read any new books this year but I did enjoy going back and re-reading a few of my favourites. Number one being Fifty Shades of Grey ;)

9. With whom were your most valuable relationships?
Probably my parents. I honestly don't know what I would have done without them.

10. What was your biggest personal change from January to December of this past year?
As I have mentioned several times in this post and in previous ones, my break up was definitely the biggest change in 2015. Not only was it a break up but I had to move out of my home and back into my parents. Easier said than done when you have 3 bedroom worth of furniture to fit in one bedroom and a shed. Not good.

Because of all this though, it's made me be more independent and to rely on no-one other than myself. If I do ever getting into another relationship, I now know what to do and what not to do.

11. In what way(s) did you grow emotionally?
Emotionally it's been a tough year but out of everything it's made me realise that bottling up these emotions is just the worst thing to do. Now, I talk to my mom or my friends and if that doesn't help, I go to the gym or for a long walk in the park. And if that still doesn't help, I have a glass of wine. Because why not?

12. In what way(s) did you grow spiritually?
I wouldn't say I have grown too much spiritually at all. I mean I light more candles nowadays, does that count?!

13. In what way(s) did you grow physically?
Physically I don't want to grow at all and hence why I have now joined Slimming World! ha Other than that, what a weird question

14. In what way(s) did you grow in your relationships with others?
I learned that my friends and family will always be there for me even when I thought they wouldn't. All relationships have grown and I feel like I can always pick up the phone and speak to them whereas before I would normally keep things to myself.

15. What was the most enjoyable part of your work (both professionally and at home)?
With my new job, there's not one part that I enjoy, it's all of them. I still love blogging and although working full time now means I can't blog as much, it still doesn't make me want to stop. Who knows what 2016 holds for both me and my blog!

16. What was the most challenging part of your work (both professionally and at home)?
My old job was just frustrating in general so everyday seemed like a challenge for me. Obviously with my new job the only challenge is that I'm still trying to learn everything and at the moment it just feels like so much! But I know it will get better with time.

On the blog side of this question, I guess I find it challenging to grow and maintain my followers, especially with my new full time job. It feels that after 2 years I'm still not building my follower group and I find that really frustrating!

17. What was your single biggest time waster in your life this past year?
My ex! ha

18. What was the best way you used your time this past year?
Concentrating more on myself and my own mental health. Getting out more, whether it's to go for a walk or round my families for a laugh. I never realised how important these things were.

19. What was biggest thing you learned this past year?
To look after myself and to realise that I'm worth a lot more than what I originally thought.

20. Which phrase or statement best describes 2015 for you.
"Don't ruin a good today because of a bad yesterday"
