Mills and Boon | The Modern Girls Guide!

Hello!

The first thing that comes to mind when I hear the name "Mills and Boon" is those old raunchy books that my Nan used to hide away and pretended she never read. Yes Nan, of course I believe you!

Since then, M&B have re-branded a little and targeted a more "modern" audience for their books and I was lucky enough to bag myself (get it, BAG, because they came in a bag?) their 'Modern Girls Guide To' collection!

Since 1908 Mills & Boon have been a girl’s best friend. And while life has been revolutionised by dry shampoo, we still have to battle unequal pay, the glass ceiling and the price of tights. Sometimes a girl just needs a break. From work-fridge-etiquette to drunk eBaying, the Mills & Boon Modern Girl’s Guides will get you through the day.

First off, the bag is adorable and I've already used it a few times to bring my lunch into work. I do love a good romance!

The books themselves aren't stories but are cute and funny little antidotes to help you through your day. The collection includes 4 books, my favourite being 'Working 9-5', and each gives little pick-me-ups and the feeling that life isn't all that bad. Bless you Ada Adverse!

The set makes for a perfect gift for your girl friends, especially the ones who are slightly more feminist than others.. You can check out the collection here on the Mills & Boon website.

Revlon Colorstay Pressed Powder in Light/Pale Review!

Hello!

A couple of weeks ago I reviewed the Revlon Colour Stay Foundation and at the same time I also made a cheeky order for the pressed powder as well. Don't judge me, it was on offer!

I really enjoyed the foundation and although I think I messed up picking the right shade, I think I made the right decision. Because of the positive review I was looking forward to trying the powder.

The packaging is really cute and it comes with a handy sponge and mirror for when you're on the go. The powder itself is really light and doesn't cake on your face like most other powders I've tried. Lasting power? Pretty good! I only needed to top up my T zone once throughout the whole day. Not bad.

Overall it's a nice little powder and I can definitely see myself picking this up again when it runs out. You can pick this up for yourself at any high street drugstore or you can buy it from Boots where it's currently on a 3 for 2 offer on all Revlon products.

Glossybox | December 2016

Hello!

I'm not sure if it's been easy to tell or not from previous blog posts but I've not been 100% in love with my last couple of Glossybox review posts.

Instead of trying to get them posted as soon as possible, I've been leaving it later and later every month. Because I work full time that also means that I'm never in to receive it and I always have to have it redelivered (which I'm sure Royal Mail love me for) and quite honestly, I can't afford it.

That's why I've decided that this will be my last Glossybox!

Browcote Waterproof Brow Sealer | £6.99
I have to admit that I don't really see the point of this. Do our eyebrows really need sealing?! It's never got to the end of the night when my eyebrows have drooped or rubbed on?

Essence Light Up Your Face Luminator Palette | £3
Can't beat a good bargain product and especially one that's bang on trend right now. Just think how glam you'll be at those Christmas parties!

MDM Flow Semi-matte Lipstick in Bossy | £18
We had the choice between Sugar or Spice and yes, I picked Sugar! I did LOVE the spice shade but Sugar was definitely something you could wear on a more daily basis.

Gosh Eye Shadow in Dark Green | £8.99
I'm not sure how I feel about this eye shadow. I love the colour and the pigmentation but I always think that green doesn't suit blue eyes. I'll have to find a way to blend it in with my smokey eye look!

Revlon Nail Varnish in Gray Suede | £6.49
You can't beat a new nail polish and especially not when it's as gorgeous as Gray Suede! I really love wearing nude shades in the Winter months so this will be getting a lot of use!

Revlon Colorstay 24hr Wear Foundation in Natural Beige Review!

Hello!

I couldn't actually tell you the last time I went and brought makeup. It's got to have been at least a few months back. Unfortunately for me since buying my house, buying luxuries like a new lipstick is something I can't really afford.

A couple of weeks back I started running out of my foundation so I thought I would treat myself! Obviously because I'm such an impulse buyer, I came away with a lot more than a foundation, but oh well. That's another story.

After a bit of research, on the foundation itself and what deals were available at the time, I decided on the Revlon Colorstay 24hr foundation! My main reason for choosing this was the big Combination/Oily line right in the middle of the bottle. If you've read other blog posts I do suffer from oily skin and finding the right products has always been quite hard. Until now!

I've been using this foundation for a few weeks now and I have to admit, I love it. The formula glides on with my makeup sponge and doesn't look caked on. It lasts the whole day when I'm at work and will only need a quick top up on the T-zone.

The only downside I will admit was me stupidly picking a lighter shade. I didn't realise until a recent night out that it left me with the horrible "ghost face" look. Not good!

If you fancy giving this foundation a go, you can check it out here on the Superdrug website for £12.99 and where it's also on a 3 for 2 offer on all Revlon products!

Glossybox | November 2016!

Hello!

I've been such a bad beauty blogger recently as I can't for the life of me concentrate enough to write a blog post. You know when pregnant women have "baby brain"? Well I have "new house brain"! Yes, it's a thing.

It's been a couple of weeks since I received my November Glossybox and although I opened it and took all the photos for this post, I just haven't been able to find time to write it. Until now!

Ruby Professional Blending Brush | €8
New brand time! I have been wearing eye shadow a lot more recently and I'm really trying to get the hang of the blending. This brush will definitely be getting a lot of use in my practice!

Wilkinson Sword Quattro Shaver | £5.69
Not the first time I've received a shaver in my Glossybox - are they trying to say something? Nevertheless I'm happy to receive and I'm looking forward to seeing if they really do smell like Raspberry!

Thisworks Deep Sleep Pillow Spray | £16
I'm not sure if it's because I've moved into a new room and I'm all confused but I'm really having problems sleeping lately. It really does seem like Glossybox have read my mind and blessed me with this spray. Watch this space!

111skin Gold Brightening Face Mask | £20
Is it just me or is the thought of applying a slimy, cold mask on your face for longer than 5 minutes just gross? I've tried one before and I actually couldn't wait to get it off. I don't think I'll be using this one!

De Bruyere Jumbo Eye Pencil | €15
I've become a bit of a fan for eye pencils over eye shadows so I'm super excited to be able to add another into my collection. It's a neutral colour and very shimmery which is perfect for those Christmas parties!

Raffaello Chocolate
If you like Ferrero Rocher and coconut then you're going to LOVE this! This is actually my favourite product in the whole box.

Guest Post | 11 Top Tips for Winter Foot Care!

Hello!

Many people think that their feet will need little care during the winter because they are protected by shoes and socks; however, this is really not the case because:
Closed shoes provide a perfect environment for fungus, which is the cause of most foot maladies.
Winter dryness and heated air can cause the skin on your feet to dry out and crack.
Foot and ankle injury due to slippery footing is another very real hazard in wintertime.
In this article, I will discuss these problems and provide sound advice to help you keep your feet healthy and happy all winter long. Read on to learn more.

winter foot care

1. Treat Yourself To A Foot Spa
At the end of summer your feet may be dry and rough from exposure. Prepare them for winter with soaking, exfoliating and moisturising. This helps prevent injury caused by hard skin snagging on the insides of your socks. A foot spa is a wise purchase that will help you prep your feet for winter and enjoy relaxation and good foot care throughout the winter months.

2. Use The Right Moisturiser
For very challenging hard skin, an overnight application of coconut oil covered by old cotton socks is a good idea. In the daytime, use a non-oily lotion or cream containing anti-fungal essential oils such as tea tree, eucalyptus or lavender to deflect fungus.

3. Wear The Right Shoes or Boots
Wear properly fitted shoes or boots through the winter to avoid blisters and ingrown toenails. Be sure your footwear has ample wiggle-room in the toe box. Wear clean, absorbent, cushiony socks to provide protection against friction.

4. Keep Your Shoes Dry
Alternate your boots and shoes to give them ample time to air out between wearing. Apply a good anti-fungal foot powder to the insides of your footwear before donning.

5. Deal With Fungus Ruthlessly
It is impossible to do away with fungus entirely. It is everywhere, all the time; however, you can prevent it from getting a literal foothold by spraying the insides of your boots and shoes with anti-fungal solution before storing them for the warmer months. Be sure your storage area has good air circulation. Examine your footwear for signs and scents of fungus before wearing. Discard and replace as needed.

6. Stay Well Hydrated
Winter air can be dry and uncomfortable both indoors and outdoors, causing dehydration, which presents challenges to every aspect of your health. When you are dehydrated, the skin all over your body suffers and dries out. Drinking plenty of pure, filtered water every day keeps your skin supple and well moisturised all over - including on your feet!

7. Avoid Foot & Ankle Injury
When selecting your winter footwear, opt for practicality over style. Your shoes and boots should fit securely, provide good support and have excellent traction. When walking outdoors in winter, exercise caution and common sense. Don't struggle under heavy burdens, and be vigilant regarding the conditions surrounding you. Look out for ice patches, don't step into deep snow where the condition of the ground beneath is unknown.
Don't rush around! Schedule your outings wisely by giving yourself plenty of time to get where you are going.

8. Keep Your Walking Areas Clear
If you experience heavy ice in your area in the wintertime, be sure to have systems in place to keep it under control. Stock up your anti-ice equipment and supplies in advance and be sure to store them where you can access them once the snow begins to fall.

9. Take Extra Care If You Are Diabetic
Stay vigilant about the condition of your feet by checking every night before you go to bed. Clean your feet well, moisturise and attend to any problems promptly. See your podiatrist right away if you notice bruising or other injuries.

10. Keep Your Feet Warm
Avoid problems with chapped skin and even frostbite by warming your feet up when they get cold. Soaking in a warm foot spa is an excellent way to improve circulation in your feet and keep warm. Be sure to follow up with a good moisturiser to protect your skin.

11.  See Your Doctor Or Podiatrist To Deal With Problems
If you experience corns, serious blisters or problems such as severely cracked heels, corns or discoloured toenails, don't take any chances. Make an appointment with your doctor or your podiatrist for a proper diagnosis and treatment. You can waste a lot of time and money trying to treat foot problems without knowing exactly what is causing the problem.
Feet can take a beating in the wintertime, but with proper care and caution you can avoid serious problems. Follow the tips presented here to enjoy happy, healthy wintertime feet.

Guest Post | Best Hair Trends for Fall This Year

Hello!

With the change in season, we need to alter the way we dress up, put on makeup and definitely cannot go on with the same messy summer buns and denim boxers anymore. Updating yourself with the trends is vital if you are one fashion fanatic like me or at least someone who cares about fitting in or maybe just have the updated knowledge to brag on. *Wink wink*

As we all are aware of the fact that fall is here and therefore, here are the latest trends in town for fall 2016:

SAY GOODBYE TO UNIFORMITY:
I have come with great news for those who are bored of wearing the same straightened and split-less hair, well guess what? That trend ends now. Similarity in hair texture and quality is not what this season demands from you. You can now embrace your own hair, be it curly, wavy or perfect straight. You need no extra efforts or styling, just rinse and dry your hair and you are ready. This is the kind of style many of us had been wishing for.

ACCESSORIZE WITH ANTIQUE HAIR JEWELRY:
Go on and purchase barrettes, hair bands and all the trendy hair jewelry you find and add hues and class to your hairdos. Antique style should be your first choice while purchasing the hair jewelry. Giving your hair a little glam in this beautiful season will work like a cherry on top for every hairstyle that you make. So what is the entire wait for? Get yourself all striking head jewelry you find before others do.

RIPPLED EFFECT HAIR:
The very old super elegant style is back after ages. All you need to do is make a ripple out of the forward-facing lock of hair and settle it with the gorgeous antique barrette in fashion. And there you are, all ready to roll for just about any event.

SIDE LINE:
Separating your hair in the middle is sort of out of fashion now and what a assertive woman of 2016 needs is to bring her hair to one side and give herself a neat, brave and sleek look. This would go perfectly with all the working women I must say, especially the doctors and nurses who have a uniform to wear with too little to experiment.

SOMBRÉ:
Sombré is the new subtle ombré which makes the same ombré solid colors a softer touch. It's best for those who are not always up for a major change immediately and suits just about any complexion and any individual; either it is a blonde or a brunette.

MESSY KNOTS:
If you are in a hurry to step out for some place like school or a meet-up, this is the best hairdo for you. All you need to do is to make a knot out of your hair in any manner you like. You do not even need to settle your hair perfectly in place for it. Your hands can do a pretty decent job too. One knot in your hair at the back or on one side can give you a perfect picture of the 18th century when people used to sport these knots with love.
