Guest Post | Why Night Cream Is an Essential Part of Your Skincare Routine

Hello!

Taking care of your skin is one of the best things you can do for yourself, and if you want to know how to do it properly, just keep on reading. Here are some useful tips on how to come up with an effective skincare routine that features one of the beneficial products on the market – a night cream. Enjoy!

The importance of a proper skincare routine

night creams

We can’t emphasise enough the importance of appropriate skincare routine. First of all, skin is your largest organ that can quickly absorb almost anything you apply to it, which is exactly why you should give your best to give it proper care. Of course, your skincare routine should be tailored particularly for your skin type, so make sure to determine it in the first place. Once that’s done, you should do a little research on the products appropriate for your skin. There are many specific formulas designed for different skin types, so be sure to look for one that suits your needs in the best possible way. From a day cream, which is essential throughout the day, to a night one that’s crucial during night – all these skincare products are really important if you want to take care of yourself, so don’t skip any of them!

What should my everyday skincare routine consist of?

night creams

The first step in any effective skincare routine is cleansing, so you need to get a gentle, water-soluble cleanser to remove excess oil, debris, dirt and makeup residue from your face. Just make sure that your cleanser doesn’t contain alcohol, since it can really dry out your skin. Toner comes next, and it is designed to calm your skin and make it much smoother. Besides that, it also contains some essential skin-replenishing ingredients that are much needed after cleansing. Moisturiser is another crucial product, because it keeps your skin hydrated and nourished all day long. Needless to say, a night cream is an absolute must, since your skin tends to lose essential moisture at night. That’s why you should help it restore hydration and absorb active ingredients. You should also incorporate a high-quality serum into your skincare routine if you haven’t already. This product will even out your skin tone and offer anti-ageing protection, which is definitely what you should look for!

Why should I use a night cream?

night creams

As already stated, night creams and serums are particularly beneficial because they contain a wide range of ingredients essential for proper nourishment. These are designed to improve your skin while you’re sleeping, which is why you shouldn’t skip them under any circumstances. Apart from moisturising and hydrating your skin, these also have a power of repairing damage caused by the sun’s rays, air pollution, free radicals, and even makeup. Their active ingredients are beyond beneficial, especially if you’re always on the go and don’t have much time to take proper care of your skin on a daily basis. Of course, a good night cream should be a legitimate part of your skincare routine once you reach 30, so make sure to get it as soon as possible!

How to pick an appropriate night cream?

night creams

Lightweight formulas such as gels and serums are perfect for oily skin, since they won’t make it feel sticky and greasy all day long. On the other hand, dry skin requires a bit thicker products that provide enough hydration and nourishment. Sensitive skin is particularly tricky, but you really don’t have to worry – organic beauty products are gaining momentum these days, and they’re great for all skin types, including sensitive! Of course, night creams are also very important when it comes to anti-ageing, so don’t skip them if the first fine lines have shown. As you age, your skin becomes much drier and less elastic, which results in dull skin and wrinkles, but don’t worry – you can slow that down by using an appropriate night cream!

As you can see, a proper night cream can really save your skin by nourishing it to the max and preventing wrinkles and fine lines. Just make sure to pick the proper one for your skin type, and you’re halfway there!

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Rose Blush Review

Hello!

A couple of months ago now I went on a little shopping trip to Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet and while I was there I popped into the Make-up Outlet store!

I managed to pick up a few items but my main reason for going in was to find a new lipstick for work. Yes, I probably have a handful at home I could already use BUT I wanted to find a shade that would match my all time favourite Rimmel lipstick from the Kate Moss Nude range.

In the end I decided on Rose Blush from Rimmel's Moisture Renew range as it seemed like a nice pinky nude shade that I could wear in the day or to work. I've brought other shades from the Moisture Renew collection and I've been really impressed with their glossy and long-lasting formula. It's almost like you can't believe it's a high street brand!

Now I wouldn't say this is a perfect match for my favourite but for £2.99, it's still a great lipstick and I'm hardly going to moan!

DIY | My New Under The Stairs Cupboard

Hello!

It's been a while since I actually sat down and blogged and the main reason for that is because I've been bitten by the DIY bug! I've been so busy thinking of all the new and interesting things I can do to my house that I thought that maybe I should start writing about it all to share it with you guys!

My latest project was dealing with that awkward space under the stairs or as I call it, the "dumping ground". Back in the day it used to home our tumble dryer and fridge but since having my new kitchen fitted and therefore putting the appliances in there, this space has been empty.

After doing a bit of searching through Pinterest for inspiration, I came across the below picture and I knew I had to recreate it for my own house.

https://uk.pinterest.com/pin/337770040792473097/

Now before I started this project I had looked into getting a professional in and have proper drawers etc fitted and they were asking for well over £1k! No thanks. My Pinterest alternative cost me under £100 with the majority of it being spent on this Ikea shelving unit and these Ikea wardrobe doors for the cupboard.

As you can see I'm decorating the rest of the hallway at the moment so I know it looks a bit crappy but cupboard-wise, I'm really happy!

I'll leave a little link here back to the blog that helped me with the idea and a bit more of a "how to do".

Guest Post | Hair Hacks Every Woman Should Know!

Hello!

Everyone’s looking for simple ways to make their hair look and feel better. With that in mind, try these handy hair hacks to learn everything from how to bring body to your hair and how to keep it looking shiny and smooth. Know your products, hair tools and accessories well and you will have a good hair day every day! Combine these simple hair hacks with other styling tips like how to straighten hair – which you can find here

Here’s everything you need to know to give your hair that everlasting stroke-worthy look.

Instant shine is just one brush away: Boar bristle brushes lift your scalp’s natural oils from your roots and redistribute them along the length of your strands. This helps your hair look cleaner, shinier and smoother. For thick hair, go for a bristle and nylon brush to detangle your mane too.

Curls – the fast way: Want curls, but don’t have much time? Try this easy hair hack: make a ponytail on top of your head. Divide your hair into two sections. Curl each one. Bend forward to pull out the hairband, so your hair is over your face. Being careful of your eyes, apply hairspray. Then flip your hair back for instant curls!

The one accessory you need for a full ponytail: Bring body to your ponytail with a butterfly clip hidden inside. Divide your ponytail in half, holding the upper part against your head. Place the clip in the middle of your ponytail, with the grips on either side. Backcomb the top half of your ponytail, apply hairspray and then smooth down.

The easy route to sleek hair: If you want to know how to straighten hair with a sleek finish, start by cold rinsing after washing to lock in precious moisture. Use a hairdryer with a narrow nozzle and a round brush to smooth your hair from roots to ends, section by section. And never skip the application of heat protection spray before styling!

Take a look at more hair hacks below for quick and easy ways to style your hair:

Essence Super Precise Eyeliner Review!

Hello!

When it comes to eye make-up, I'm pretty boring. I'll admit it! Since I was probably around the 16/17 year old mark I discovered liquid eyeliner and I've never really gone back. If it's not broken and all...

Because of this though, that means I've had a few years of testing out different types of eyeliners and I come to find what I love and what works for me. Normally I would tend to go with the felt tip eyeliner but recently I've been drifitng towards the more liquid eyeliner.

On one of my recent trips to Wilkos, I made a sneaky visit to their Essence make-up range and their Super Precise Eyeliner just hopped into my basket. Weird?

As I said above, I do normally go for felt tip style eyeliners but I do love the precision I've been able to get with this one - hence the name. As you can see from the swatch as well, it's thin and precise but can be easily layered up for a thicker effect. It's super easy to apply and it lasts throughout the day and for £2.30, what more do you want?!

If you're looking for a cheap eyeliner for work or just in the day, this is definitely something to try! You can check it out on the Wilko's website here.

Bourjois Souffle de Velvet Rouge Edition in Carameli Melo Review!

Hello!

Admittedly, I'm a bit of a shopaholic, especially when it comes to make-up but it's nice every once in a while to treat yourself to a new lipstick. Well I do anyway!

Well on the last bank holiday, I went to Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet and popped into their Beauty Outlet Store to pick up a few goodies. One of the things that I picked up was the Boujois Souffle de Velvet in Carameli Melo.

I cannot explain how much I love this lipstick. It's just perfect!

The formula is really creamy and just glides on your lips with no hassle. Although it gives a slight matte look, it didn't dry my lips out or "crack" and actually felt quite moisturising.

The only thing I would say needs a bit of improvement is it's lasting power but since I love the colour so much, I don't mind nipping to the toilet for a top up every now and then!

If you're interested in this, you can check it out here for £8.99 on Boots' website!

Guest Post | How to Use Coconut Oil for Hair and Skin Care!

Hello!

One small, but significant thing I’ve been thinking about recently is natural beauty products. It makes such a difference to be using simple, fresh products on your body. I know my hair and skin really thank me when I pamper them with high-quality products!

A favourite recent find on the beauty front is all natural coconut oil. You might be thinking this is something people use for cooking, not moisturising. And while it can be pretty great for making dinner, many people are unaware of its beauty benefits – if you’re wondering how to make your hair soft, a simple coconut oil mask might help a great deal, and this works well on your skin too!

Coconut oil’s soft and buttery texture is exactly what you need on damaged and dehydrated hair and skin. And it’s so easy to add this natural ingredient to your beauty routine!

1. In order to deep condition your hair, repair split ends, moisturise your scalp and add a healthy glow to your locks use coconut oil as a leave-in treatment every once in a while. Massage the oil into your hair in circular motions and then work through with a comb. Then wrap your hair up in a shower cap or towel and leave it for at least 30 minutes. Finish by shampooing to remove the oil and style as usual afterwards.

2. Use coconut oil to get rid of those annoying tangles in your hair. Before styling or brushing your hair, gently massage the oil into the ends of your hair then work your way towards the roots with a comb, gently detangling your locks. No need to rinse nor shampoo!

3. Fight dandruff and a dry scalp with coconut oil by leaving it overnight. Before going to bed, use your fingers to massage the oil into your scalp and then wrap your hair in a towel and sleep through the treatment. The following day, just wash your hair as usual!

1. Make a coconut oil face mask 2-3 times a week. Apply a small amount all over your face before going to bed and wake up with smooth, baby-like skin. If you have an oily skin type, do it less regularly or avoid applying too much to the oil-prone areas of your face. Trust this natural overnight moisturiser!

2. Remove your makeup with coconut oil using a cotton pad –  it works specially well with waterproof makeup. It is ok to rub some of the oil on your eyelids to remove any stubborn eye shadow or liner, but be careful not to let it reach your eyes.

3. Coconut oil can also help your skin by being a great make up brush cleaner! Use it to keep your favourite cosmetic tools as clean and fresh as possible –  if they are free from any germs and bacteria you’re already half way to a beautiful and clean skin.

With things like coconut oil you know exactly what you’re getting and feel really good about the end results! So if you’re looking for a natural way to pamper your hair and body with one ingredient – choose coconut! Still, you can find many other great tips on how to moisturise your skin and how to make your hair soft if you do a quick online search!

April | Birchbox x Boden

Hello!

Another month has gone by and that brings another Birchbox! April's box is special as they've teamed up with Boden to bring us 5 gorgeous products, including 2 full size ones. Woo!

The one thing that I love about Birchbox over Glossybox is the actual boxes. Yes, Glossybox would have special boxes sometimes but there's something even cuter about Birchbox. Am I the only one?

birchbox april 2017

What's in this months box:

Manna Kadar High Definition Powder | £27
Apparently this is full size? Really?! For nearly £30!? I don't think I'll be getting much use out of it because I'll be scared to waste it!

ModelCo Eye Define Crayon Liner | £11
Gotta love a new eyeliner and although I do tend to pick felt tip or liquid eyeliners more, I'm still really excited to give this one a go!

Polaar IcePure Gentle Scrub with Arctic Cotton |  £23.50
What is it with this box having very expensive products in? I don't think I'd be paying over £20 for a face scrub. Slightly too pricey for me!

Luseta Beauty Keratin Smooth Conditioner | £5
My hair has been pretty dry recently so a good conditioner is definitely appreciated right now! It smells amazing

Baija Paris Creme Moana in Fleur de Tiare |  £15.90
I love the packaging of this cream and it makes me want to go on holiday. Just me? This also smells pretty amazing as well!

April | Things I'm Loving!

Hello!

I really enjoy reading "things I'm loving" posts as I always find them really interesting, plus I always get a few good recommendations from shows or products. A couple of months have passed since my last one so of course I had to write about them!

1. The Last Man on Earth
the last man on earth

How I have never watched this show before I will never know. Needless to say, I am now in love and have already finished off the first two seasons in less than a week! I am a huge fan of Bob's Burgers and it's nice to branch out and find another good show with Kristen Schaal in!

2. Gardening
garden instagram

Who knew I was so green-fingered? Because I certainly didn't! I've now found myself strolling down the gardening aisles at my local B&Q and I actually enjoy it. I'm so excited for Summer to come so I can get out in my new garden!

3. Spring!
spring

Speaking of the Summer weather, I'm so happy that Spring is here! Having the lighter morning and nights has really motivated me to get my ass in gear with my house and my diet instead of just coming home from work and slumbing in front of the TV all night.

4. Catfish
catfish tv show mtv

I used to watch Catfish a few years back but I kinda went off it - there's only so much drama you can take! BUT I have got back into it again and the newest episodes have been so good! I've got so addicted that I've gone back and started watching from the start again.

5. Calligraphy
calligraphy

One thing I really wanted to challenge myself with this year was to learn new skills and the first one that came to mind was Calligraphy. Majority of all bloggers use Calligraphy fonts in their blogs and I'd love to be able to create something without the use of Photoshop. If you follow me on Instagram, you'll have seen that I've recently purchased a Kirstie Allsopp Calligraphy set and so far I'm really enjoying it. Watch this space!

Guest Post | How to Match Clothes When You're Clueless About Colour-Matching!

Hello!

Most folks are hesitant in wearing colours since they think they know very little or nothing about matching colours. Wearing dark, strong colours all the time make you look dull. You have to include a touch of shading in your day by day life to look stylish and trendy.

This article is for those colour shy folks who discover trouble in coordinating colours in a way that they synchronise with each other to deliver an outfit that is satisfying to the eye. You don't have to stress any longer as this article will give you five new outfit ideas that you can use to spruce up to look polished without confronting the trouble of coordinating the correct mix.

http://www.simplyspaced.com/2015/03/18/color-coding-closet-organizers-secret-weapon/

Start with neutral colours:

Neutral colours incorporate white, grey, black, cream and shades of navy blue. This group of neutral colours combine up extraordinarily well with the majority of the hues.

If you begin with this set of colours, the odds of you turning out badly will aggregate up to almost zero. Wearing them will give you certainty and you won't confront any trouble in coordinating different colours as they pair up with almost all colours and all outfit types. For instance match up grey sweaters with some dark coloured smart pants.

Pair up normal colours with neutral colours:

Presently this progression can be somewhat risky for guys who know nothing about colour matching. But if you have picked up confidence in wearing neutral colours you can move to the next step of pairing normal with neutral colours. This group incorporate yellow, red, green and so forth. However if you are matching a bright shade with a strong dull shade the general blend will be something more subtle rather than vivid. So you won't feel over conscious about your outfit. The vital thing to remember is that pick just those colours that compliment your personality.

How to utilise complimentary hues:
Complimentary colours are those that are found at the opposite sides of a shading wheel. The word complimentary does not imply that wearing these colours will compliment your personality.

For starters it is best to avoid these colours. But they can work for you pair up colours wisely by choosing one paler shade and one brighter shade. For instance take a stab at matching pale gold with blue colour.

How to utilise analogous hues:

Closely resembling colours lie beside each other on a colour wheel. This implies they are the diverse shades of a similar colour. So in the event that you would prefer not to go for strong hues pick more subtle shades that compliment your skin tone and your identity. It is advisable to use one neutral and two analogous colours on the grounds that with this mix you can never turn out badly.

Choose just those hues that compliment your personality:

Ultimately pick just those colours that compliments your identity. Regardless of what shading you like if it doesn't look great on you it is not for you. Figure out how to blend and match just those colours that compliment you and we can promise you can never turn out badly!
