Life | Why I Deleted Facebook

I can guess that a few of you will probably read this title and think "and? so what!" but part of me wanted to write a little post about my reasoning for why I decided to deactivate my Facebook account.

First off, I didn't actually deactivate it. The reason for that is I'm quite lazy for signing up to things like apps and websites and I will usually click the "log in with Facebook" button. It would cause so much hassle to get all this changed and because I'm lazy, I decided to not deactivate but to just delete the app and basically all traces of it from my life.

So why do it? Why delete a harmless website from your phone and your bookmark history on your computer? How will I possibly like cute videos of cats and dogs?

Well, here it is!

The truth!

I HATE Facebook!

SO much!

Yes, when I first made my account things were different and it was the perfect way to keep in touch with your friends and share pictures etc but over the years, things have changed. Instead of the friendly "how have you been?" it just seems like it's all about gossip and drama. And A LOT of stalking. Nothing in people's lives seems private anymore and I'm sick of logging in to see the next episode of Jeremy Kyle.

Also, since buying my house and therefore decorating and making it a "home", a lot of my friends and family have asked why I've never uploaded any pictures onto Facebook so they can see. Why? Because it's MY home. It's my personal space and I don't want Rachel who I sat next to in English at school to see that. Personal space people! Let's keep it that way!

On top of all that, I found that I was spending far too much time on it! It became a habit to pick up my phone and to sit there for hours just scrolling through my timeline. I never really got anything out of it and it was such a waste of time, especially when you think of all the other, better things I could have been doing with my time!

And breathe!

Needless to say since deleting the app I've been happier. I don't know what that ex-colleague of mine is doing and I don't know who's breaking up and the best part of it? I don't care! The one important thing I've learned is that you need to learn to be happy in your own life and that posting every second of your day is not healthy.

Plus, Twitter is so much better...

Guest Post | Fashion Essentials for Every Girl!

Owning several versatile pieces of clothing that you can build your wardrobe around is like laying the foundations for a house. Building a solid wardrobe is a long-term goal in every girl’s life. However, these things take time and patience. Every single of these fashion essentials is like an investment because you’ll want it to be of good quality. Here are a few ideas to get you started.

guest post fashion

Let’s start from your feet and see what kind of shoes every girl has to have in her closet. First of all – ballet pumps. You can count on them whenever heels let you down and, what’s even better – they can fit easily into any style. One pair of basic ballet pumps in a neutral colour is a must; the rest is up to you. Next, you should own a pair of good running shoes. Even if you’re not much of a runner, those comfy shoes are perfect for travelling as well as for everyday strolls. And for somewhat colder weather, have a pair of flat knee or over-the-knee leather boots – to keep you warm and help you look trendy even when you’re wearing several layers.

Needless to say, a little black dress is the number one fashion staple for every girl’s wardrobe. It doesn’t even have to be that little – you can choose the length you feel comfortable with. Besides an LBD, fashion experts suggest you should have a “just for fun” dress – a piece that might not seem very practical at first glance, but it’ll be a great addition to your wardrobe because you’ll feel so good wearing it. You’re not limited to having only one nor are you obliged to pay a lot of money for it, especially when you can shop in online consignment stores, such as where you can find everything you need.

A good T-shirt and well-fitting pair of jeans is a perfect go-to outfit for the days when you feel lazy but still want to look chic. That’s why owning a few basic tees is so important. A comfy cotton tee is great for everyday outfits while a white T-shirt made of precious materials, such as silk or viscose, can be worn in any kind of special occasion. The same goes for a stripped T-shirt – pair it with black skinny jeans and ballet pumps, et voilà – you’ve brought a dash of Parisian chic into your style.

Owning ten coats means nothing if you don’t have one to keep you warm when the temperature drops. Invest in a good winter coat made of wool and cashmere, and you won’t have to worry about the cold. It’s okay to have another coat, which is not as thick, for warmer conditions, but what you really need for spring and early autumn days is a high-quality trench coat. It’s one of those timeless classics and will be forever trending, regardless of the colour or the cut. However, a beige or black trench coat is a fashion essential, perfect for office-friendly outfits or for going out.

Dresses and skirts are fine, but pants will make you feel as comfortable and powerful as possible. At least one pair of skinny jeans is a must for every wardrobe since they go with everything – just make sure you find the cut that fits you perfectly. For more elegant outfits, classic black pants or cigarette trousers are inevitable. You choose the cut – opt for high-waist or low-rise, cropped or wide-leg – either one will look marvellous. You can combine them with a tailored blazer and black pumps and create a killer business combination, or pair them with flats and a basic T-shirt for a casual feel.

Once you got these essentials in your wardrobe, you’ll never think “I have nothing to wear” again. This is the base of every outfit you wish to pull off – simply add accessories and you’ll be good to go.

Case Made Genuine Leather iPhone 6 Case Review

Every girl loves to accessorise and your mobile phone is a perfect place to start. You can buy headphone socket gems, stickers for the back and even adorable little pants you can put on them. Not exactly sure why or what the purpose of that is but they're cute!

I'm quite boring when it comes to my phone though and will normally just stick to a pretty case. I'm currently rockin' a beauty and the beast case at the moment but I have noticed that it was starting to look a little scratched and it was time a replacement was due.

Along came Case Made. If you haven't heard of them they are an England based company who specialise in crafting beautiful and high quality phone and tablet cases. I was kindly asked if I'd like to try out one of their cases and after about half an hour looking through their iPhone 6 section, I decided on the Tan Leather Wallet Case.

I have to admit that I was really surprised by just how gorgeous this case was. Not only does the phone fit securely in the holder, a reasonable amount of card slots but it also comes with a handy screen wipe! The quality really is exceptional and you really can see that the founders of the company have tried their hardest to create the perfect phone case.

Life | Look Back & New Years Resolutions!

I know it's a very typical thing to do at the end of the year and deep down we know that we probably won't be keeping to a majority of them anyway BUT every year I always tell myself that this will be the year that I actually do it!

First off I like to do a quick "look back" on last years resolutions and see if I managed to keep any!

1. Go on an adventure. Did not keep this resolution and I'm actually really gutted about that! Definitely need to sort this out for 2017!
2. Save some money. Enough to buy a house?  Yup that's one ticked off!
3. Gym. Let's just move on!
4. Be more organised. Definitely! I have diaries and notepads every where with little reminders and notes for myself. I even brought an organiser file for all my documents!
5. Take time out for myself. This was very important to me and I'm happy to say it's one that I made a big effort to achieve.

Overall, quite successful so onto the new year!

I think we can all agree that 2016 has been an utterly shite year and for once I'm really looking forward to 2017 and the chance to start over. Here is my list of all the things I'd like to achieve!

1. Concentrate on my blog more

Since buying my house and subsequently spending all my time and money on decorating etc, that hasn't really left much time for my blog. After the first few moves have passed and I've got a routine going again I definitely want to make sure that I have "blog time"

2. Lose weight

I do cringe writing this down as a resolution because EVERYONE says they'll lose weight in the new year but I really have "let go" lately and I need a kick up the bum to get back on track. 2017 will be the year!! And yes, I know the picture is just the worst when trying to diet!

3. Learn a new skill

Continuing on from above, this year I want to help better myself and another way I can do this is to learn a new skill! There's so much that I want to do with my life and the only thing holding me back right now, is me. Not anymore! Watch this space.

4. Cook more

new kitchen

It dawned on me a couple of days ago that since I paid £5,000 for a new kitchen, I've hardly cooked in it! Mostly it was down to the fact that it was all "pretty and new" and I didn't want to ruin it but enough's enough! I need to start cooking!

5. Not get in debt!

A bit of a joke resolution but something I do seriously need to get on top of. I will be entering 2017 as a home owner and with that comes a lot of responsibility so one of my resolutions this year will be to become OCD about my in and outgoings! No more impulse spending sprees in Primark!
