Drink More Water | Hydratem8 Bottle Review!

27 February 2017

Hello!

One of my New Years resolutions (as always) was to lose weight and I guess just try and be more healthy in general. One way I can "make the change" is the increase my water intake. I will happily admit that I don't drink as much water as I should and the main reason is that I find it boring. Yes, I'm a child. To help motivate to get drinking, I started looking online to find the perfect water bottle and that's where I found Hydratem8.

hydratem8

Now I know there are loads of other companies that have started making these "measuring chart" style water bottles but Hydratem8 was the first company I saw so I bought from them. I personally would have shopped around a bit before as I think their prices are quite high for what you get but oh well!

I've been looking at Hydratem8 for a while and although the price put me off, I did like the idea of being able to see how much I've been drinking and to push myself to drink more. After the release of two new bottles, I decided to take the plunge and pick up their teal bottle.

Delivery was super quick and the next day I was filled up and ready to go! The first day went really well and although I did find I was lagging behind a bit in the morning. After using for a few days I noticed I was drinking more on my own, without having to look at the measurements to see where I should be. It's like it trained my brain to drink!

All in all the price still does bother me because £13.99 is a lot for a water bottle but I'm glad I did buy it. Strange I know! If you don't fancy paying that much, they do have a "lite" version which is slightly cheaper. All versions come in a range of colour and the adult bottles even come with motivating quotes on the side (mine says Drink More Water!

If you're looking for that health boost on the build up before Summer than try out a bottle today!

New Shades! | Glasses Direct

25 February 2017

Hello!

For the past couple of weeks, I've been suffering from really painful headaches and after making a few changes to try and work out why I finally realised it was probably down to my glasses and I needed to book an eye test.

Now I'm normally quite regular with my eye tests and to be quite honest, I still have a few more months left until my next one is due but if you do suffer from any symptoms then you should definitely not wait and get it checked out!

After getting my eyes tested and finding out that my eyesight has slightly deteriorated and that I would be needing new glasses, the first place that came to mind was Glasses Direct!

glasses direct
glasses direct
glasses direct

I have written a review post about Glasses Direct about a year ago and since I had such a good experience, I knew I'd definitely have to go back to them. Not only do Glasses Direct have a great range of frames and some of the best deals I've seen, but they also provide frames to be trialled in the comfort of your own home!

After about 2 hours of looking through all the frames, I found the 4 that I wanted to home trial and in the post they went. Within the next 2 days, they arrived and I instantly fell in love with them all. Unfortunately, I couldn't buy them all but because they had a buy one get one free offer on at the time, I did narrow it down to two frames!

The whole process of picking my lenses and entering my prescription was really easy and I felt confident at the end that I knew exactly what I was getting. And even if I had messed up GD have an amazing free returns policy. Bonus!

Now down to the frames! My last couple of glasses have been black and to be quite honest, boring. This time I wanted colour and pattern but I eventually went with two quite similar Cat Eye tortoiseshell glasses. My favourite out of the two is definitely the Scout Millie Glasses as they're a subtle tortoiseshell effect on the outside but has a gorgeous gold glitter effect on the inside! I know no-one sees that part but GLITTER! The second pair is my sexy but classy frames a.k.a the London Retro Chelsea glasses. I really enjoyed the burgundy into tortoiseshell effect and I will definitely get a lot of use out of them in the Winter/Autumn months as all I ever wear is burgundy coloured clothes. (Yes I colour co-ordinate my glasses).

Overall the two glasses cost was just over £80 and that was including the extra protection lenses so all in all, not too bad! They came super quick and I really can't fault Glasses Direct for anything. If you're looking for new glasses then I'd definitely recommend you checking out their website!

Last Box! | Glossybox February 2017!

22 February 2017

Hello!

I think this has been a long time coming and probably a little unexpected for some BUT after nearly two years, I am cancelling my Glossybox subscription. Yes I know, it's news of the century!

In all honesty, though I've been thinking about it for a while now as I haven't really been enjoying the products and since buying my house, I need to think about the pennies more and spending £15 a month on something I don't really want or need, seems a bit stupid.

glossybox february 2017
glossybox february 2017

In this month's box:

Jeanne Arthes L'Eau de Rose Perfume | £20
I'm not the biggest fan of the rose scent which is strange because I think the flowers are gorgeous. Either way, I don't think I'll be getting much use out of this perfume, maybe I can use it as a room or linen spray?

Garnier Ultimate Blends Honey Treasures Strength Restorer Balm | £4.49
I love the Ultimate Blends brand and I've even written a few reviews of them in the past so I'm really excited to give this a go. Gotta love a good hair treatment!

Ciate London Paint Pot in Iced Frappe | £9
I'm really into nude shades at the moment and this will be a perfect addition to my collection. I've already tried it out and I have to say it's SO long lasting! It's been over a week and it's all still pretty much on my nails. I class that as a win!

La Theorie Des Volcans Noir Eternae Youth Potion Face Scrub | £26
Another skincare product! I think if I rejoined Glossybox after a years time, I'll still be using all their skincare samples. Nevertheless, youth potion sounds good and I'm intrigued to see what it can do!

MeMeMe Beat the Blues in Oyster Gold | £7.25
I haven't got many MeMeMe products so I'm happy to expand my collection! Watch this space for a review!

Guest Post | 5 Top Tips on Buying a Wedding Dress Online

20 February 2017

Hello!

Valentines’ Day is over. Some of you must have received a big surprise—Yes, I mean the proposal. That’s really the best and happiest moment for us. However, it is just a start for your couple life. To continue your happy life journey, a sweet wedding ceremony where you will wear dream bridal gown is needed.

So, today I will share some useful skills of shopping online for your wedding dresses. Let’s face it. Online shopping is convenient and saves a lot.

1. Learn more about the shop

There are really some shops online when you search for the keyword “wedding dresses”, “cheap wedding dresses” or something else. Then how could you know if it is a legit store? Visit the store and normally there you can find some clues. A legit store contains at least the address, email address and social media. Customers will leave their reviews and problems there. If you have no idea about the wedding dress store, here I want to recommend one—uk.millybrida.org. Dresses there are really charming and fashionable.

2. Read the shopping guide and check the size chart carefully

You need to change your habit if you also buy dresses in a fixed size. One 6 size dress in one company might be the size 8 in another. So, before you place the order, read their shopping guide with patience, take the measurements, and check their size chart. It helps you find a fit dress.

bridal

3. Do ask the customer service for help

If you think the second step too difficult, just find the customer service. They will help you get the exact measurements and find a perfect dress. Do not be shy. It will take much more time if you get a dress in the wrong size. Besides the size thing, you can also ask them about anything you want to know including the exact colour of the dress, the real photos and materials.

4. Read the reviews

Reviews on each product page can help you know more about the dress quality, the popularity of the dress and even some more important information. If there are none on the website, find more on other forums. But do not judge one store according to the reviews only. Normally, one will prefer to write reviews when mad or extremely happy.

5. Find the flash sale if you have a limited budget

One store will do some promotion occasionally to attract the customers. So seize the chance and it will save you more. More discounts are given on Black Friday, Boxing Day and some other event. Just visit the site often and buy the item you want at the most suitable moment.

Hope all these tips help you find a perfect wedding dress. For girls who prefer Wedding Dresses London style, Millybridal is surely your wise choice.

70% Off! | New Look Curve Haul

17 February 2017

Hello!

I've been trying really hard for the past couple of months to save my money and pay off some of the bills from over Christmas. Overall that's been fine but then when New Look sent me an email telling me of their 70% off sale so of course, that idea all went to shit.

To try and make myself feel better about spending this months shopping allowance, I thought I would share with you all what I bought! You know, to make it seem like I brought it all just to make a blog post about it. Totally!

I am in LOVE! As soon as I saw it on the website I knew I wanted it! I did worry that I might not be able to "pull it off" but I decided that I just don't care and I was buying it regardless. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to Summer now so I can wear it out!

I loved this top so much that I actually brought two. Why? Because if you're only going to eat crackers for a week straight, at least look good eating crackers. Plus it's a bit of a bargain for £4!

I really needed some more "in the day" tops for when I'm just dossing around the house or going food shopping for those crackers and this little £4 bargain will be perfect for that.

Black Frill Dress | £10
You can never beat a good ol' LBD and this one is a bargain for only £10! It has a gorgeous frill effect which flows all the way to the bottoms and clinches in at the waist. It fits perfectly and it skims any lumps and bumps, what more could you ask for?

I actually brought this top to wear with the mesh skirt but after trying it on, I think I'm going to send it back. Let's just say it clings to ALL the wrong places and I don't think I want to pay £6 for that privilege.

Denim Shirt | £9
I love denim shirts as they're perfect for just throwing on top of your outfit as a light jacket as well as wearing on their own. My old denim jacket got so much wear that the colour actually started to fade. Definitely time for a new one!

(Didn't take a picture of this - I forgot!) I bought this purely to bring my total over just to get free delivery *fist pump* It's not my favourite smell in the world but it'll do for my handbag in those "emergency" situations.

I hope you enjoyed this mini haul! Have you brought anything good in the sales recently?

Being Single | My Valentines Day

14 February 2017

Hello!

It's that time of the year again when everywhere you go is plastered with hearts and companies make you feel like you should dump your boyfriend if he doesn't buy you that 50ft teddy bear or that £1,000 ring. Cos that's love. I am a firm believer in that you should show someone you love them every day, not just one day!

For me though I'll be spending it single and alone and I'm okay with that! Give me a bottle of prosecco and a few episodes of American Horror Story and I'll be happy. In view of this I thought I would put together a mini wishlist/what I'll do this year on February 14th!

valentines day

Just because you will be alone with your cat doesn't mean you can't treat yourself to a nice glass of prosecco, some nice flowers and of course, chocolates! One good thing to look out for is all the half price chocolates the next day *wink emoji*

Disclaimer - I want to make out that I'm not bitter about being single or a hater of Valentines day!

13 February 2017

Hello!

With Valentines Day just around the corner, I thought I would help you all out and review the perfect date night lipstick!

A couple of weeks ago I made a little payday purchase from Boots and at the time Revlon had a buy one get one half price offer on all their products and since I was already buying a new foundation from them, it seemed stupid not to pick another product! I ended up going with their new Ultra HD Matte Lip Colours in the very gorgeous Flirtation shade.

The formula is really smooth and easy to apply and it does leave you with a truly velvet matte finish. It's highly pigmented and the moisturising formula cushions your lips in gorgeous bold colour and on top of all that? It actually lasts!

I'm glad I made this purchase and I'm also secretly tempted to go back and pick up a few more shades. If you check it out on the Boots website they're on offer for buy one get second half price!

Guest Post | Being Cool and Confident: How to Feel Great in Your Own Skin

10 February 2017

Hello!

“Low self-confidence isn’t a life sentence. Self-confidence can be learned, practised, and mastered — just like any other skill. Once you master it, everything in your life will change for the better.”  - Barrie Davenport

how to feel great in your own skin guest post

You can wear the most fashionable clothes in the world, be drop-dead-gorgeous, have a perfect figure, great education and a good job, but if you don’t believe in yourself you’ll never feel satisfied and you won’t make any progress. Fortunately, self-confidence isn’t something you are born with. It is a skill that takes time to develop, practice and master, but once you get there you’ll see that nothing is impossible. Here are some tips that will help you feel better in your skin (and look cool while you’re at it).

Find Your “Mojo”

how to feel great in your own skin guest post

The fashion industry and mainstream media are constantly pushing an image of the perfect woman, at least how they are picturing her, and more often than not, that picture is unrealistic or simply not appealing to everyone. The first thing you’ll have to do is stop trying to be that woman, and discover who you really are. Think about what you like, what you don’t like, what are your best assets, what do you want to become… Find the things that make you feel great, and enjoy them.

Find Something that Singles You Out from the Crowd

how to feel great in your own skin guest post

This shouldn’t be so hard. It can be a distinct physical feature – e.g. full lips, strikingly green eyes, long legs, sexy collarbones, etc. On the other hand, it can be something associated with your personality. Are you the funny one? The emotional one? A good listener? You might also have different interests than most of the people you know, such as love for French movies or passion for dancing.

Build Your Fashion Sense

how to feel great in your own skin guest post

If you dress for the crowd, you can never be confident. If you dress for yourself, you can feel good about your body, which will - in return - reflect in physical indicators of self-confidence: good posture, smiling and using open gestures. Explore various fashion styles and see which one matches your personality. Also, try to dress according to your body type, so that you enhance your best assets and hide those areas you dislike. Make sure you always have a couple of statement pieces like a go-to dress, a leather jacket, great pants, and a killer tee.

Take Care of Yourself

how to feel great in your own skin guest post

Devoting time to regular self-nourishing will surely contribute to self-confidence boost, not only because you will look better, but also because you will appreciate yourself enough to do that. This means that every time you wash your hair you need to apply a balm and a nourishing hair mask and seal the moisture in. It also includes a consistent skincare regimen. A balanced diet (not starving yourself) and a healthy dose of physical activities (a simple daily walk) can also mean a lot for your health, wellbeing and therefore self-confidence.

Face Your Fears and Take the Fall

how to feel great in your own skin guest post

The most efficient way to build self-confidence is to face your fears. If you afraid of speaking in public – join up for a stand-up comedy night or karaoke. If you are afraid of talking to boys – go out and set a goal of approaching three guys for one evening. If you freeze at the very hearing of the unknown – go travel someplace alone. It will not always turn out as you hoped it would, and sometimes the thing that you’ve feared the most can actually happen, but that is the lesson – failure is not the end. It is a possibility to learn and evolve. To quote Batman’s butler: “Why do we fall? So we can learn to pick ourselves up”.

Knowing who you are and appreciating yourself for it will make you care less about other people’s opinions, which will make you more stable and focused on yourself. In return, you will feel and look better – perks which can only make you thrive both professionally and personally.

New Year New Box | Glossybox January 2017!

08 February 2017

Hello!

I'm really behind on doing this review - yes you can tell me off. The truth is it took me a while to open it and even longer to upload them onto my computer. Things have been busy again and to be quite honest, every free bit of time I have, I end up relaxing with a new TV series or a book.

Anyway..

Here is January's Glossybox!

Inside this months box:

Nip + Fab Kale Fix Moisturiser | £19.95
Excited to finally try and Nip + Fab product but the kale part puts me off a little. Does this actually work?!

Thebalm Meet Matt(e) Trimony Single Eyeshadow | £34 for palette
Hey Matt, I like you! Shame you're a dark aubergine shade. On the lips, yes. On the eyes, no.

Unani Illuminate Milk Cleanser | £14
Another repeat brand and one I'm excited to start trying! The last product worked really well for my skin so I'm eager to increase my collection!

Vitamasques Manuka Honey Face Mask | £3.99
ANOTHER face mask. I have three now from Glossybox and I'm starting to feel a bit paranoid and like they're trying to tell me something! Needless to say, a honey mask sounds interesting!

Absolute New York Velvet Lippie | £5
Another favourite of Glossybox and also in a very similar shade. Although I liked the last one, I have to admit that I've hardly used it! I do tend to stick to my old favourites so I need to make the effort to wear them more!

The New Hair Craze? | Pantene In-Shower Foam Conditioner Review!

03 February 2017

Hello!

I might not be able to go splurging all my wages in Primark since I bought my house but I do like to make a naughty purchase whenever I'm out shopping in Tesco or Asda. I have to get my shopping fix from somewhere!

One of the last things to catch my eye on one of these shopping trips was the new Pantene Foam Conditioner. Now I might be a little behind on the times but foam conditioner just seems crazy to me. How can it properly condition your hair?! Surely after applying it'll just dissolve into nothing so therefore not really conditioning your hair?

pantene foam conditioner
pantene foam conditioner
pantene foam conditioner

I have to admit that after a few uses, I've fallen a little in love with this conditioner. As you can read above, I was very dubious that it would work but after using it several times I was beginning to change my mind. Clearly, foam is the way forward.

After applying to my hair, within seconds it had soaked in and was ready to be rinsed off so there was no messing about. When drying my hair I found it to be soft to touch and no leave-in conditioner was needed which is a big plus for me!

Like I said above, I'm in love. I would definitely recommend trying this out (I've already recommended it to my friend at work). I've even been back to Asda and picked up another can! You can do the same here on the Superdrug website where it's currently on a 2 for £5 offer on all Pantene. Perfect excuse to stock up!
