International Women's Day | Women Who Influence Me

In honour of International Women's Day, I thought I would take the time to write a blog post for all the beautiful women out there who have inspired me to become the person I am today.

jennifer lawrence
Jennifer Lawrence
My little claim to fame is that I share the exact same birthday, even the year, as Jennifer Lawrence! Woo August babies! The reason she's on my influential list because I just love her. She really is amazing. Every interview I've ever seen of her is just so honest, clumsy and more importantly REAL. She doesn't play up to the cameras and for that I respect her. Not only that but she's actually a really good actress as well. Obviously, I picked this picture to showcase this side of her and she's on my list because I so wish I could be just like her.

dakota johnson
Dakota Johnson
Another celeb that's on my list is gorgeous Dakota. I know she's only become big recently because of Fifty Shades of Grey but I've seen a few of her older movies and she's actually a good actress. I hate when you see "celebs" cashing in on their parent's fame and do absolutely nothing in return for it so it's nice to see Dakota actually making a living for herself. (Disclaimer, I know a lot of other celeb's children have their own career but Dakota is just Girl Goals).

alli speed
Alli Speed
When I was going through a bad breakup back in 2011, I took comfort in watching the vlogging couple who called themselves CTFxC. I watched every single video from Day 1 in 2009 all the up to the present day, and of course every day after that. They helped me get over my ex and gave me the hope and courage to not only move on but to look to the future.

When the news of Alli and Charles divorcing came out and the subsequent drama that followed, I was devastated but only because I couldn't bear the thought of Alli being upset. I realised I carried on watching the vlogs for so long because I enjoyed seeing her and what she had to say. She's a very strong, outspoken person and always seemed to turn every bad situation into a good one and throughout everything, she still has a smile on her face.

My Aunt
Family means a lot to me and I'm not sure how or who I would be if they weren't around. This aunt, in particular, is very much my best friend and someone who I can talk to about pretty much anything. There really is no limits to what we talk about! I treat her a lot like a sister and her sons (my cousins) even call me Auntie Natty. Needless to say, she's been a big influence on the person I am today.

My Nan
I grew up spending a lot of time with my grandparents and would often sleep over whenever my parents went out on a night. As I grew older I started wanting to spend more time with one Nan in particular and would choose to stay over when though I was fully capable of looking after myself. We bonded quite a lot in that time and even now that I've "grown up" and have my own life, she still manages to put a smile on my face.

My Mom
I wouldn't be able to make this list without including a section about my Mom. I've not been shy about my past problems and if you look through my blog enough, I'm sure you can find the blog post I'm referring to. Throughout all of that, she's stood by my side and always made sure that I'm okay, even putting me first ahead of herself. I know it's like a typical "Mom" thing to do but she still proves over and over how amazing she is and how lucky I am to have a mother like her.

Right, emotional time over! Who are your influential women of today?
