Guest Post | How to Use Coconut Oil for Hair and Skin Care!

Hello!

One small, but significant thing I’ve been thinking about recently is natural beauty products. It makes such a difference to be using simple, fresh products on your body. I know my hair and skin really thank me when I pamper them with high-quality products!

A favourite recent find on the beauty front is all natural coconut oil. You might be thinking this is something people use for cooking, not moisturising. And while it can be pretty great for making dinner, many people are unaware of its beauty benefits – if you’re wondering how to make your hair soft, a simple coconut oil mask might help a great deal, and this works well on your skin too!

Coconut oil’s soft and buttery texture is exactly what you need on damaged and dehydrated hair and skin. And it’s so easy to add this natural ingredient to your beauty routine!

1. In order to deep condition your hair, repair split ends, moisturise your scalp and add a healthy glow to your locks use coconut oil as a leave-in treatment every once in a while. Massage the oil into your hair in circular motions and then work through with a comb. Then wrap your hair up in a shower cap or towel and leave it for at least 30 minutes. Finish by shampooing to remove the oil and style as usual afterwards.

2. Use coconut oil to get rid of those annoying tangles in your hair. Before styling or brushing your hair, gently massage the oil into the ends of your hair then work your way towards the roots with a comb, gently detangling your locks. No need to rinse nor shampoo!

3. Fight dandruff and a dry scalp with coconut oil by leaving it overnight. Before going to bed, use your fingers to massage the oil into your scalp and then wrap your hair in a towel and sleep through the treatment. The following day, just wash your hair as usual!

1. Make a coconut oil face mask 2-3 times a week. Apply a small amount all over your face before going to bed and wake up with smooth, baby-like skin. If you have an oily skin type, do it less regularly or avoid applying too much to the oil-prone areas of your face. Trust this natural overnight moisturiser!

2. Remove your makeup with coconut oil using a cotton pad –  it works specially well with waterproof makeup. It is ok to rub some of the oil on your eyelids to remove any stubborn eye shadow or liner, but be careful not to let it reach your eyes.

3. Coconut oil can also help your skin by being a great make up brush cleaner! Use it to keep your favourite cosmetic tools as clean and fresh as possible –  if they are free from any germs and bacteria you’re already half way to a beautiful and clean skin.

With things like coconut oil you know exactly what you’re getting and feel really good about the end results! So if you’re looking for a natural way to pamper your hair and body with one ingredient – choose coconut! Still, you can find many other great tips on how to moisturise your skin and how to make your hair soft if you do a quick online search!

April | Birchbox x Boden

Hello!

Another month has gone by and that brings another Birchbox! April's box is special as they've teamed up with Boden to bring us 5 gorgeous products, including 2 full size ones. Woo!

The one thing that I love about Birchbox over Glossybox is the actual boxes. Yes, Glossybox would have special boxes sometimes but there's something even cuter about Birchbox. Am I the only one?

birchbox april 2017

What's in this months box:

Manna Kadar High Definition Powder | £27
Apparently this is full size? Really?! For nearly £30!? I don't think I'll be getting much use out of it because I'll be scared to waste it!

ModelCo Eye Define Crayon Liner | £11
Gotta love a new eyeliner and although I do tend to pick felt tip or liquid eyeliners more, I'm still really excited to give this one a go!

Polaar IcePure Gentle Scrub with Arctic Cotton |  £23.50
What is it with this box having very expensive products in? I don't think I'd be paying over £20 for a face scrub. Slightly too pricey for me!

Luseta Beauty Keratin Smooth Conditioner | £5
My hair has been pretty dry recently so a good conditioner is definitely appreciated right now! It smells amazing

Baija Paris Creme Moana in Fleur de Tiare |  £15.90
I love the packaging of this cream and it makes me want to go on holiday. Just me? This also smells pretty amazing as well!

April | Things I'm Loving!

Hello!

I really enjoy reading "things I'm loving" posts as I always find them really interesting, plus I always get a few good recommendations from shows or products. A couple of months have passed since my last one so of course I had to write about them!

1. The Last Man on Earth
the last man on earth

How I have never watched this show before I will never know. Needless to say, I am now in love and have already finished off the first two seasons in less than a week! I am a huge fan of Bob's Burgers and it's nice to branch out and find another good show with Kristen Schaal in!

2. Gardening
garden instagram

Who knew I was so green-fingered? Because I certainly didn't! I've now found myself strolling down the gardening aisles at my local B&Q and I actually enjoy it. I'm so excited for Summer to come so I can get out in my new garden!

3. Spring!
spring

Speaking of the Summer weather, I'm so happy that Spring is here! Having the lighter morning and nights has really motivated me to get my ass in gear with my house and my diet instead of just coming home from work and slumbing in front of the TV all night.

4. Catfish
catfish tv show mtv

I used to watch Catfish a few years back but I kinda went off it - there's only so much drama you can take! BUT I have got back into it again and the newest episodes have been so good! I've got so addicted that I've gone back and started watching from the start again.

5. Calligraphy
calligraphy

One thing I really wanted to challenge myself with this year was to learn new skills and the first one that came to mind was Calligraphy. Majority of all bloggers use Calligraphy fonts in their blogs and I'd love to be able to create something without the use of Photoshop. If you follow me on Instagram, you'll have seen that I've recently purchased a Kirstie Allsopp Calligraphy set and so far I'm really enjoying it. Watch this space!

Guest Post | How to Match Clothes When You're Clueless About Colour-Matching!

Hello!

Most folks are hesitant in wearing colours since they think they know very little or nothing about matching colours. Wearing dark, strong colours all the time make you look dull. You have to include a touch of shading in your day by day life to look stylish and trendy.

This article is for those colour shy folks who discover trouble in coordinating colours in a way that they synchronise with each other to deliver an outfit that is satisfying to the eye. You don't have to stress any longer as this article will give you five new outfit ideas that you can use to spruce up to look polished without confronting the trouble of coordinating the correct mix.

http://www.simplyspaced.com/2015/03/18/color-coding-closet-organizers-secret-weapon/

Start with neutral colours:

Neutral colours incorporate white, grey, black, cream and shades of navy blue. This group of neutral colours combine up extraordinarily well with the majority of the hues.

If you begin with this set of colours, the odds of you turning out badly will aggregate up to almost zero. Wearing them will give you certainty and you won't confront any trouble in coordinating different colours as they pair up with almost all colours and all outfit types. For instance match up grey sweaters with some dark coloured smart pants.

Pair up normal colours with neutral colours:

Presently this progression can be somewhat risky for guys who know nothing about colour matching. But if you have picked up confidence in wearing neutral colours you can move to the next step of pairing normal with neutral colours. This group incorporate yellow, red, green and so forth. However if you are matching a bright shade with a strong dull shade the general blend will be something more subtle rather than vivid. So you won't feel over conscious about your outfit. The vital thing to remember is that pick just those colours that compliment your personality.

How to utilise complimentary hues:
Complimentary colours are those that are found at the opposite sides of a shading wheel. The word complimentary does not imply that wearing these colours will compliment your personality.

For starters it is best to avoid these colours. But they can work for you pair up colours wisely by choosing one paler shade and one brighter shade. For instance take a stab at matching pale gold with blue colour.

How to utilise analogous hues:

Closely resembling colours lie beside each other on a colour wheel. This implies they are the diverse shades of a similar colour. So in the event that you would prefer not to go for strong hues pick more subtle shades that compliment your skin tone and your identity. It is advisable to use one neutral and two analogous colours on the grounds that with this mix you can never turn out badly.

Choose just those hues that compliment your personality:

Ultimately pick just those colours that compliments your identity. Regardless of what shading you like if it doesn't look great on you it is not for you. Figure out how to blend and match just those colours that compliment you and we can promise you can never turn out badly!

New Monthly Box! | Birchbox March 2017

Hello!

A couple of weeks ago I wrote my last blog review for Glossybox because I was getting fed up of the same old products and missing the £15 a month. The next day though I found myself signing up to Birchbox! Will I ever learn?

To be fair to me, I was thinking of making the switch for a while now as I have been unhappy with Glossybox and it just so happened to be that around the same time, Birch box was sending out the new Benefit Lip Stick in their next box so the decision was quite easy!

Inside this months box:

Balance Me Instant Lift Primer | £22
I've used this a couple of times now and I in all honestly haven't really noticed a lot of difference? I've read a lot of other bloggers review of it and they've been quite positive so I feel like I'm not using it properly?

Marcelle Gentle Makeup Remover | £14.50
I'm still a little obsessed with micellar water but I'm running low so perfect timing Birchbox!

Benefit They're Real Lipstick in Lusty Rose | £16.50
I'll be honest, this was the main reason I signed up to Birchbox. I was a fan of the They're Real Mascara so I was a little desperate to try their new lipstick. Watch this space - review coming!

Korres Santorini Vine Shower Gel | £8
I didn't think I was going to like this but after giving it a go, I found I really enjoyed using it. The smell was clean and fresh and not much product was needed to lather up a good amount of foam. Shame about the price though!

Batiste 2 in 1 Shampoo & Conditioner | £4.49
I have actually only recently brought a full size version of this to review so it was a bit of a bummer to receive it but I guess it's always handy to have around incase of emergencies!

Thoughts compared to Glossybox?
I'm much more preferring Birchbox but fingers crossed they keep up the good products!

Essence Stay All Day 16h Foundation Review!

Hello!

A couple of weeks ago now I spoke about my mini (not really mini) Essence make-up spree in my local Wilkos and to be quite honest, I haven't got round to actually reviewing any of it yet!

This week I actually ran out of my foundation so it was finally time to crack open my new Stay All Day 16hr Foundation. Woo!

Now I will admit that I was in a bit of a rush while shopping so not much care was taken when picking the colour. Personally, I think Soft Beige might be slightly too dark for me but that's my own fault so hey!

The formula itself is actually pretty good. I gave it it's first test run on a night out and despite all the dancing ect, it managed to stay on my face for the whole night. Not the 16hr guaranteed but who keeps foundation on for 16 hours!?

The packaging is really cute and simple and there's the nice £3.80 price tag to match as well. Honestly, can you go wrong with that?

Special Occasion? Prestige Flowers!

Hello!

I've had a few special occasions come up recently (both parents 50th birthdays for one!) and I am a complete sucker for spoiling people. Even if there's not a birthday or something coming up, I'll still go out shopping and think "Oh, so and so would like that!" and then buy it for them. I'm just a nice person!

Well as I mentioned about it was a big birthday for both of my parents recently and as they'd both helped out so much with me buying my house, I really spoilt them! As I felt like that wasn't enough, I even dragged it out to Mother's Day as well.

Now my friends over at Prestige Flowers must have read my mind and offered to send me over of their Luxury bouquets from their special Mother's Day range.

I have to admit that I'm a little late writing this review as I've not been feeling very alive lately but how gorgeous are these flowers?! I had them sent to my workplace so I'd be there to accept it and everyone in the office was so jealous!

I was sent their Emerald bouquet by Haute Flowers and it is just beautiful! *insert heart eye emoji* The bouquet includes sweet avalanche roses, memory roses complimented with veronica blue and green chrysanthemum blossoms to make it as truly delightful arrangement. As you can imagine, I scored a lot of Mom points!

If you have any special occasions coming up then check out Prestige Flowers website for their huge range of bouquets and gift packages.

Aura Print | My Own Business Cards!*

Hello!

I've been blogging for a few years now and although I'm currently "unknown" in the blogging world, that's still not deterred me in any way. I enjoy blogging and talking to the friends that I've made and honestly? It justifys all my spending!

One thing that I've always wanted, but felt like I was too much of a "nobody" to get them, were my own blog business cards! I hoped that if I had them then it would push me to attend blogging events and spread the word of "Petal Poppet Blogs"!

Well a couple of months ago, Aura Print contacted me about the chance to get my own business cards designed and printed and of course, I jumped at the chance!

business cardsbusiness cards

All the staff at Aura Print were really friendly, even when I came back with my changes! Within a couple of days my design was agreed and off to printing it went. By the end of the week they were here and the whole process was super quick and easy.

As you can see from the pictures, the cards are really good quality and made from 4 different sheets of paper bonded together to create the final card.

All in all, I honestly can't fault Aura Print and if/when I run out, I would definitely be going back to order more!

Guest Post | The Best Ways to Liven Up Your Outfit

Hello!

If you’re bored of wearing the same old clothes and need some inspiration on how to spice up your outfits, you've come to the right place. By adding some interesting accessories you can completely revamp your whole outfit and bring it back to life. Here’s a few ideas that you can use to brighten up a dull ensemble...

fashion accessories

A Classic Watch
It’s often the case that the one item of a person's outfit which people tend to notice first, is the wristwatch. Therefore, the perfect way to spruce up any dull outfit is with a classic and contemporary watch. A watch should be an investment, so make sure you go with a reliable, trusted brand such as Michael Kors, Links of London, Perrelet, or Thomas Sabo for example.

A Colourful scarf
If you tend to wear rather plain, neutral coloured outfits, then investing in a few colourful or patterned scarfs could be the way to go. An eye catching scarf can totally transform any outfit, whether its round your neck, swinging from your handbag or used as a head wrap. Not only are they versatile and trendy, but they're also practical because they are comfy and can keep you warmer when it's chilly. In cooler weather opt for a bright chunky knit, as opposed to a lighter, patterned scarf for when the temperature creeps up.

A Statement Bag
Carrying a bag doesn’t only provide you with a convenient place to store all the items you want to take with you, but it can also be a real fashion statement. With so much variety, in the form of backpacks, clutch bags, crossbody bags, handbags, or satchels, you’ll be spoilt for choice. If your outfit is fairly monotone, go for bright, patterned or textured bag to give it an edge and make you stand out from the crowd.

A Trusty Belt
If you feel like your outfit needs a little extra something to pull everything together, a belt is sure to do the trick. There are so many different types of belts to choose from that there’s sure to be one that’s just right for every outfit. There are belts made for the waist or the hips, thin belts and thick belts, plain belts and textured belts, colourful belts and patterned belts. Especially if you feel like your outfit doesn't quite fit you properly, a belt is the fastest and easiest cure to cinch you in and turn your outfit from drab to fab.

A Stylish Hat
Another effortless way to spice up your outfit is to throw on a hat. From newsboy hats, berets and bowlers hats, to fedoras, beanies and baseball caps, there's sure to be something to suit you - whatever your style. Hats are not only a great and stylish way to express yourself, but they can make your whole outfit look fashionable, even if the intention was just to cover up your bed hair!
