George Autumn/Winter Wishlist

Hello!

It feels like it's been ages since I actually went out and did some retail therapy. Since losing my job and worrying about losing the house etc, I've spent the past couple of months saving as much money as possible.

ALTHOUGH I've been trying to be good with my money, that doesn't mean it's stopped me from doing a little bit of cheeky window shopping on all the popular retailer websites. From New Look to River Island to Peacocks, I've probably been on them all and the one thing they all had in common was I didn't like anything. Anything! Everything seemed to be "not my style" or just overly priced for what it was. And then I clicked onto the Asda George website. Within about 10 minutes of being on the website, my basket has about 20 items in it. I just couldn't help myself.

To not let my window shopping go to waste, I thought I would make a small "wishlist" post for you all to see how amazing George is doing at the moment in the fashion department.

Bring on payday!

Things I'm Loving | December 2017

Hello!

1. Strangers Things

stranger things 2

It's back!!
I have to admit that I was a little obsessed when they released the first season of Stranger Things. It was like nothing I'd ever watched before and every episode just seemed to keep me hooked so I had no other option but to keep watching. The second season is exactly the same and it's even answered a few questions I had. Bring on season 3 now!

2. Burgundy

It's burgundy season again! YAY
From September to maybe April, I wear nothing other than red, specifically burgundy. It's a gorgeous warm colour for those upcoming colder months and I think it's one of those colours that just looks great on everyone. The one burgundy item that I've been going mad over is the faux sheep skin collar coat from Primark. I saw a few other bloggers wearing it and I raced to my local store to go and pick one up!

3. Face Masks
face masks
Probably shouldn't admit this but me and my boyfriend have been loving face masks recently! I love relaxing in a hot bubble bath, a few candles lit and maybe even a nice glass of Rose with a face mask on. I'm really hoping someone buys me some more for Christmas!

4. Disney

beauty and the beast disney

Ever since the release of the live action version of Beauty and the Beast, I've become a bit addicted to Disney. From watching old favourites movies to buying all the Beauty and the Beast merchandise from Primark that everyone is going mental about. It's a little worrying for a 27 year old woman.

5. Christmas!

Christmas

Obviously Christmas is on the list as it's less than a week to go now and I'm SO excited! I hate to be one of those girls who rub relationships into faces of people who are single, but having a partner at Christmas time makes it all the more special to me. Last year I was single and woke up alone in my house and pretty much just watched movies and slept all afternoon. Not so fun. This year though, I've got loads of different things planned and I just can't wait!

Guest Post | Party Season: Head to Toe Trends to Celebrate

Hello!

One of the best things about Winter is that it contains the most glamorous time of year; party season! There are so many events on throughout December, from office parties to gatherings with friends and family plus Christmas and New Year too of course. That’s a whole lot of outfits, hairdos and makeup looks to plan. It’s fun to try out the latest trends, so here are my picks of the best party trends to try from head to toe, including hairstyles, special outfits and the most on-trend shades of lipstick, eye shadow and nail polish.

If ever there’s a time to pull out all the stops with your ‘do, it’s party season. You don’t have to head to the salon to have a professional stylist primp your perfect plaits and updos, however. Take a DIY approach and learn how to do it yourself at home. Braids are bang on trend, so experiment with different versions of this style, from the fishtail plait and the Dutch braid to the crown plait and the pull through braid. There’s lots of information online to help you have a go. For example, if you want to try a pull through braid, see tutorial here.

Party season makeup

Glitter lovers rejoice at this time of year, as party season is all about sparkle and that never changes. You can attach temporary gems to your face around your eyes and brows, or slick on a layer of glimmering eyeliner and mascara with flecks of glitter. If full-on shimmer isn’t your scene, metallic eye shadow is a perfect way to embrace the latest makeup trends without going quite so far into bling territory. As for lips, deep berry tones are very much the trend all Winter long, so make a statement now and you can keep wearing those dark red and purple shades for the rest of the season.

Party season nails

Nail art gets really fun during party season, as the festive-themed nail wraps and tutorials start to stack up. Candy canes, snowflakes and reindeer are all a fun way to bring a Christmassy touch to your nail art. If you prefer chic style over novelty on your nails, then look to the Autumn/Winter 2017 catwalks for inspiration. Dark metallic shades like gold were all the rage at Mulberry and there was a matted-down metallic silver at Daks, while frosted white glitter was the ice queen effect at Sophia Webster. All of these pair perfectly with party season’s other key trends.

Velvet is the key texture across fashion and homewares in Autumn/Winter 2017, so it makes sense to indulge in this luxury fabric at this most luxe time of year. Try it in shimmering silver shades or deep berry tones for the ideal accompaniment to your makeup and nails. A party dress is always a go-to option, but you can mix things up this year with the trend for jumpsuits; so much more chic than jeans and a top, and a great alternative to a maxi dress. As for shoes, embellished, glittery and sparkling styles all are on-trend. Ankle boots are where it’s at in terms of shape, if you’d prefer not to wear that party season staple, high heels.

As with all trends, it’s all about how you work them to make them match your own individual style. This is such a fun time of year to embrace new looks. Enjoy party season!

Guest Post | How to Look Good at a Christmas Party

Hello!

Holiday time is finally here, and the excitement in the air is almost palpable. December is the time of pristine white snow covering the top of our houses, making them look like icing on a cake, it’s the time of spiced apple cider and hot pies, the perfect moment for gifts and family. Of course, it’s also the time of glitz, glamour, and parties! The Christmas party was always my cherry on top when it comes to holiday celebrations, and I can never wait to start getting ready and rock a pretty little look every year. One could say I’m a pro when it comes to these things now. Regardless of the kind of party you’re attending this year, I’ve got a few nice tips to share that will help you look splendidly gorgeous and have a ton of fun!

Indulge in some beauty treatments

The best way to look like a goddess for a party is to feel like a goddess! Why not visit your cosmetician and treat yourself to something nice? I always go to the same skin clinic in Sydney and I like to get microdermabrasion a week or two before the event because then I know I’ll have perfectly smooth, velvety skin. Just indulge yourself, maybe you get some dermal fillers, maybe you get a little spa time, whatever you enjoy. It’s important to pamper ourselves and these little beautifying treatments can get us in just the right mood for the party.

Wax at the right time

Don’t wax the day before the party unless you want red spots to show on your skin! Three to five days is a much better idea.

Careful with the self-tan

That bronze summer glow is beautiful, but do be careful not to overdo it. Similarly to waxing, it’s best not to do it the night before. A week or two should be enough time for your skin tone to even out and look smooth.

Let your dentist give you a row of pearly whites

One of the best parts of Christmas parties are the photos! I love taking selfies with my friends, I love those beautiful family pictures. I want my smile to be absolutely perfect for those, so I have a habit of seeing this excellent cosmetic dentist in Sydney every December for a little teeth whitening. If you haven’t seen your dentist in a while, it’s always good to do it before Christmas and New Year. Imagine yourself with a bright red lipstick and blinding white teeth, charming hearts with your big grin.

Pick the right outfit

While Christmas is not really the time for revealing outfits, that doesn’t mean you can’t still be sexy. We’re going for elegance, we’re going for a refined, beautiful look that’s a little seductive, and very sophisticated. I recommend a silk blouse and a cashmere sweater paired with a pencil skirt, or perhaps a red or emerald wrap dress that looks gorgeous on any body type and gives you a dose of feminine allure. Add shimmery accessories – a slim bracelet, or a pair of dangling earrings, and a belt to go around your waist.

Perfect your makeup game

Makeup can be a real game-changer on a party, because it can either bring out your best features and make you look gorgeous in pictures, or it can smudge and become runny and make you look sloppy. To ensure it lasts all day, you want to use a good primer, and a good setting spray (like Urban Decay All Nighter). For a sultry, bombshell look that’s still perfectly appropriate for family dinners, try a chocolate cranberry smokey eye that will bring out all the glam and make your eyes really pop.

One last tip, ladies: practice your makeup and wear your outfit before the actual party. You want to see how it all looks on you and change up the details you’re not satisfied with. Otherwise, bring good mood and your smiles, and enjoy the food, the booze, and the company!
